Default Motor plate problem

Hi guys, my sons ax10 is having a problem stripping spur gears, it seems when it's bound up the motor plate with flex and chew the spur… I've tried the search but can't find an upgrade for this, so what are you guys doing to prevent this?

I've never heard of this issue. Have you checked to make sure that all the motor plate screws are tight? That all the transmission bearings are tight with no slop.

People run big power motors off of 3S through the axial trans without much issue, so I'm not quite sure what could be happeing with your setup.

the motor on my rig doesn't align perfectly, so when I set my gear mesh I have to ensure that I mesh to the tightest spot, otherwise it would strip the gear. You probably have the same issue and need to adjust your mesh just slightly.

Most who run hot motors have upgraded thier motor plate. If you get a thicker plate the motor won't deflect and strip the gear. Try looking in the vendor section or check out the there websites to see who has better plates......

see if any of these work out for you:

http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showt...2C+motor+plate (might still have em for sale)
http://www.tcscrawlers.com/Driveline...p-1-c-338.html (they have a couple for sale)
http://rcpcrawlers.com/product.php?p...&cat=29&page=1 (here's another)

Thanks for the replies guys, the motor plate is defiantly moving, my younger sons ARTR ax10 doesn't have this problem but his motor plate is solid, my others sons rig has the cooling grooves cut into the motor plate maybe this weakens it?

@ -w-designs... Thankyou that's what I need

Hey man how about this one from BWD, It is what I run on my pro rig its a very solid bit of gear. Plus it is light just the way you like it.

I had a similar issue with the motor/trans i used in my ax10 swx between your motor plate and the trans does it have aluminum spacers or plastic?

I swaped the plastic ones out on mine and it seems like problem solved.

x2 on the bwd motor plate! I like how it uses a nut rather then screwing into the plate itself, and allows for an extra screw/bolt.

Definitely worth the money imo....
