Default Is this too much juice??

I have a new stock motor (Novak 55 turn) currently running 2s lipo, but thinking about using 3s lipo (following specs) from my Rally xlt - is it too much juice?

It's the Venom Li-Power Series 3S 1P 11.1V 1300mAh

SPECS: Length: 3.54" (90mm) Width: 1.34" (34mm) Height: .71" (18mm) Weight: 4.6oz (130.4g) Charge Rate: 1.3A (1C) Max Volts Per Cell: 4.2V Max Pack Voltage: 12.6V Min Discharge Volts: 8.25V Continuous Discharge: 20C (26A) Max Burst Rate: 30C (39A)

Its not really the motor you need to worry about. Can your ESC handle it?

Hobbytown put it together. I'm not sure the type of ESC.

I'm just wondering what will happen if I run 11v 3s lipo, and have no idea if that's too much.

Not for the motor. Alot of guys run 4s. You need to find out what ESC it is first.

It's a "Rooster Crawler" - purple. The UPC says 22G35856.

Sorry for all the questions (not new to RCs but new to crawling). What are the side effects of the TorqueMaster BR-XL. It says it can handle 3s to 6s but will I need to replace the Novak 55? If the Novak can handle it, will break other things? I'm assuming it will add speed but will that reduce the ability to crawl at slow speeds?

purple? Yep, rooster crawlers are meant for 2s max. I've seen them run 3s for a while, but they don't seem to last long like that, plus you're running a risk of ruining your lipo's.

No side effects, but anytime you increase your voltage you increase wheel speed and torque, so I am sure you find some week points in your crawler. What all are you running?

no the motor can handle it just fine, you'll get more speed so you can always drop the gearing down some to slow it down some and gain some tourqe. "gear down, Volt up!"

I ran 3S on a rooster crawler edition for more than a year. The biggest problem is that the internal battery elimination circuitry cannot handle the load of the motor and servo at the same time. You won't be able to steer while on the throttle, and it does not have the proper cutoff voltage. With a Castle BEC, and a cutoff or monitor for voltage, you will be just fine with a 55T.

I run a Holmes 40T and BRXL now in the Axial rig, but my 55T with a CE worked just fine. The ESC is still running after about 2 years now in a buddie's rig.
