dstrbd1's UGC F4/Fastback to FF4/Fastback Hybrid SOLD Better late than never to start a build thread I guess. A couple months ago I picked up an Axial Scorpion RTC as my first real RC. It has been an on going investment ever since. I should of known as I have been building and wheelin 1:1 crawlers for over 7 years now. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...g/DSC_0266.jpg Fastback Hybrid (born and raised in a motel room) Underground Crawlers F4 (now FF4) chassis with Fastback top plates Sidewinder ESC Tekin 35T Crawler motor Hitec 7950 TH Servo running at 7.4 volts Racers Edge horn CC BEC Crawler Innovations servo guard Vanquish Hurtz Dig Mini Hitec 225mg dig servo Vanquish Black DH's / Sedonas up front Vanquish Black SLW V4's / Rovers in back Crawler Innovations Double Duece foams MIP driveshafts Underdrive rear gears Gunnar Beeftoobs front Gunnar Hex pins Robinson racing spur gear VP razors Axial BTA with homemade 4-link plate Axial clockable C's Losi shocks with gold springs and Crazy Origin shock cap mod UGC D-mount Custom bent links with Revo rod ends http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...g/IMG_0427.jpg |
I really liked my F4 chassis with bug body. I had all intentions on running it like this for a while with plans of a fastback in the future. As soon as I heard UGC was closing I went ahead and ordered some fastback plates. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...g/IMG_0394.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...g/IMG_0389.jpg Only had to drill 1 hole in each side of the chassis to mount the plates. Of course the F4 and the Fastback did not line up perfectly, but luck had it that the few holes that did line up were the ones I needed. I'm glad I didn't have to mod the chassis too much just in case I go back to the bug body. (And because UGC is closed so I didn't have the heart to mod it too much) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...g/IMG_0400.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...g/IMG_0402.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...g/IMG_0405.jpg |
Electronics mounted for now. (I have since tied the front shocks together.) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...g/IMG_0413.jpg Had to at least keep the paint scheme as the bug. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...g/IMG_0423.jpg |
My intentions are to keep it as a Sporty for now and become a proficient driver before adding dig. I have competed in a few local comps with really good success so far. May be beginners luck, who knows. I do know that I am a huge fan of my Underground Crawler Chassis though. |
This is a sweet rig!!! I have had the pleasure to witness (most of) the evolution of this little hybrid...not only is it dead sexy but it also straight performs. Great job Trent! Cant wait to see those DH's on there... - |
Thanks Tom for the kind words and all the help. |
Totally dig the green "thumbsup" When I got the paint masks, I was wondering if anyone would mix it up a bit. Very cool looking truck! |
Very nice ride ! i like the hybrid "thumbsup" |

After watching an output shaft on another rig snap at the comp after the 2nd gate I ordered a set of Axial steel outputs. Small price for reliablity. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...g/IMG_0459.jpg My Gunnar Beeftoobs finally showed up too!!! http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...g/IMG_0463.jpg I got a set of the Axial CVD's. I didn't want to spring for a set of 300's since I will probably be going to the dark side hopefully sometime soon. I did however make new pins out of a 1/16" drill bit for some added strength. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...g/IMG_0455.jpg While the rig was apart for all these mods I went ahead and upgraded all the connectors to Deans plugs."thumbsup" |
My rings showed up so I could finally mount my new wheels. Big thumbs up to the customer service at Vanquish. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...g/IMG_0466.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17.../IMG_0470b.jpg |
Update: The 1/16" drill bit I made pins out of for my CVD's was obviously way to brittle. Snapped like a twig after about a total of 9 gates today. Gunnar just received payment for some pins. |
I snapped the other CVD short shaft today. What a waste of money. Looks like I'm back to stock dogbones again til after the first of the year then looking to get 300's. |
