| Axle Bearing keep falling out.
Ok, it can't fall completely out, but its half way out every time I run the truck more than a few minutes. The Rear Pinion Shaft Bearing is always out resting against the steel output yoke. I push it back in with a screw driver which is easy to do, but I am wondering if I should be looking for a problem that might be causing this. I have had the rear axle apart, I installed new Axial HD gears, everything looks nice, clean and normal. Maybe the Axle housing is just a old and a bit stretched out. (my AX10 used to belong to a guy who drove it as a Scaler for miles in the woods). Any ideas ? Im willing to try anything. Thanks |

You can apply loctite to the housing and that should keep the bearing in the housing. Obviosly be carefull and don't use too much. CVD axles in the front would also keep the bearing from coming out. I know Axial CVD's will cure this. On the rear pinion you could do the same thing, but I am thinking that your drive shaft should be snuged up closer to prevent this from happening. I can't see that bearing on my truck because the drive shaft covers it up. Try to slide the drive shaft up closer.

Thanks, I have been pushing the Drive shaft on arther and it keep the bearing 2/3 in the housing. I was thinking some sort of plastic/nylon washer to take up a bit more space.. just enough to close the gap but not enough to bind. I was thinking I might have a warped Ring or pinion shaft, this might cause a cork screw effect and wind the bearing out. |

you would be safer just adding shims in between the yoke and bearing, simpler cleaner and less prone to cause problems later.
