center ground clearance sup guys i was wondering what i can do to give my axial ax10 a higher center ground clearance?? i only have about 2'' of clearance. http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/4933/axialax10.png |
idont have much more than that on my ax but i used chain link to make quick adjustment of ride height different size bike chain or timing chain i my case use mb sl 560 chaini can raise or lower with turn of a screw mount on frame and put shocks upside down lower cog works nice good luck |
VP Razor shock mounts will give you a bit more clearance. I run them in the rear of my rig. They will not work with a bta setup on the front. But the best thing you can do is get some tires. If you are running stock proline hammer tires, ditch them and get your self some 5.5" tires and some good foams. HB Rovers or Sedonas (soft compound) and Crawler Innovations DD foams can't be beat. You will be blown away with what good tires will do."thumbsup" |

As posted above a good set of 5.5" tires wile help a lot. You can also try longer shocks and high clearance lower links. Have a read through the stickies at the top of this forum there is heaps of good information to be found. Also read through people's build threads to see what they have done to get the results they wanted. |
sweet!! i was just looking at some tires lol. I was looking the proline SX super swampers. they stand 5.4'' still larger than my stocks. Has anybody used these tires? |

leave the sx swampers for the scalers . |
x3 Rover or Sedona's are 5.5" tall and are the best. |
After doing aluminum bent link and 4 link swaps, and swapping to HB Rovers I'm sitting at 2 3/4" clearance at "ride height", 3" at full droop, 1" at full compression. Relocate your battery and you'll probably gain 1/4" too. |
well i did some custom fab work lol dont make fun of me now. it was very simple but effective for what previous issue. I now have 3'' of center ground clearance. I just drilled new shock post location, also still have same if not more articulation ( dont know if i spelled that right) here some pics http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/4984/61334987.png Uploaded with ImageShack.us http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/7392/41579807.png Uploaded with ImageShack.us http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/8348/50375161.png Uploaded with ImageShack.us http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/5104/14152801.png Uploaded with ImageShack.us |
Not bad, altho way too much articulation. Something on Pros and Cons of Articulation. |

The simple solution to this is to move your battery to the front axle like a lot of shafty's. This will help your crawler preform better in many ways. |
drilling the new shock mounts was an interesting idea. i like your rig. :) |

I run the stock shocks, in the stock locations. Bent rear links. Pro-Line chisel tires and i have 3 1/2 inches roughly. I say the one thing you need to do is get the battery off the top of the chassis. |
