Default AX10 - diff shimming?

Folks,

Building up a sportsman from parts and was wondering if the crown and pinion need to be shimmed for mesh?

Have done this with nitro truggies etc, but never had to build an ax diff before.....

Generally no, but it sure won't hurt anything. Axial did a good job with the design.

I've shimmed the crown into the pinion to get max tooth contact. But there really isn't much room in the case to move the ring/crown gear, as it's a pretty tight fit.

There's plenty of room to move the pinion deeper into mesh with shims.
