Default Al c-hubs and knuckles binding!?

Tried install the aluminum C-hubs and knuckles that I picked up in a batch of assorted parts and the buggers don't fit worth a damn.
First the knuckles won't fit the Cs without filing them down, and then the plastic sleeves are so tight inside the knuckles that they won't turn and the whole thing binds.

No idea what brand the parts are.

Am I doing something wrong here, or do I just have junky parts?

Stock: the steering knuckle assembly pivots on the sleeves that the screw goes through.

New parts (old sleeves):

Assembled:

The steering knuckle is so tight to the C-hub that it barely goes on, and the sleeves are so tight that they have to be forced into the knuckles. The result is the entire thing binds and any pivoting has to be done by the screws moving in the C-hub threads.

That's pretty much where I'm at. file and drill the puppies. If I screw them up I just go back to stock.

You wont need to drill anything. Get rid of the plastic sleeves. Use the metal ones. Here is the part from RPPHobby.

Well, they go in and out easier...so, not sure on the diameter, but for sure they are more round....if that means anything to you.

They are much better for the contact with the screw as well.

perfect. looks like the flange may be thinner as well, which may solve the other fit problem.

I have my flage pipe installed with the flange on the top of the knuckle and I put some washers in between the c's and knuckles. You can tighten the screws as hard as you would like and my knuckles are so easy to turn they flop around all over the place.

It's hard to see, but if you look between my knuckles and C'hubs you will see a 3mm washer.

That looks like a good way to do it. The spacing can be adjusted with washers and the flange seperates the screw from the knuckle.

I figure if I get these puppies working and then get Gunner toobs I shouldn't have to worry about the front end.

I use only VP knuckles and metal flange pipes. The flange pipes are longer than the knuckle sleeve, so when you tighten the screw all the way, there is no binding, as you are only tightening against the end of the flange pipe.

Defenitley use the metal flange pipe. I ended up with a little bit of space between my Chubs and knuckles, so the washers helped eliminate any slop as well.

Dumb question: Where are you all getting thin 3mm washers?

I have Vanquish knuckles with CKRC C-hubs, and the steel flanges, and there is a smidgen of vertical slop between the two that I would like to elmininate, but all of my washers are too thick. Ideally I'd find some super thin washers so I could evenly space the two keeping the knuckle centered, instead of putting on thick one on top or bottom of the hub.

My hobby shop has bulk bins of all sorts of bearings, screws, washers, thingys and doo-hickeys.
