Default Has anyone seen/heard of AE-2 ESC?

Hello,

I received my AX-10 RTC in the mail today and got to looking at the ESC. Instead of the AE-1, it arrived with an AE-2 advertising lipo-cutoff and drag brake.

When I first turned it on, I heard a familiar beeping sequence. It sounded exactly like my CC Sidewinder. I got curious and plugged the AE-2 into my CastleLink and was amused to see a new program set come up. Although the settings were limited, it allows for a change in lipo cutoff, drag brake, reverse lockout, etc. All basics, but still great.

Got to looking and even Axial has NO information on this ESC. No site that I know of offers it for sale and forum searches have brought up nothing.

Does anyone have specs on this at all?

Damn, I got gyped .

If the castle link will bring up programing, it might be based on a Sidewinder, and just dumbed down for cheaper sale.

Axial has been making some changes lately with the 2.4 radios and now this, what's next a good servo too?

My new RTC came with the AE-2 as well. I really like it. I also went to the Axial web site to look up info on it and came up empty handed.

Good to see Axial stepping up and fix the biggest problem on their RTR trucks.

My AE-1 worked fine (for an AE-1), but I just bought a Sidewinder to get drag brake. At least I got it in time for the rebate offer.

true but after giving around 300 for a rtc you would expect at least for it to work out of the box

i put a receiver battery on mine for a while... it fixxed the problem but burnt up my stock servo then i let a friend plug in my pack and he didnt notice the polarity and burnt my hs645 up now i got a pos futaba 51 oz servo... barely driveable but im gonna try to find my stocker since the warrranty exchange is so good
maybe they will get me a new servo just as easy as the esc

Sorry it took a while, but here are the pics of the unit and screens of the CastleLink linked to it.

Main screen

Basic Settings

Software version, only one.

Looks exactly like a Sidewinder

Side View

You can see the spot in the case where it would have a third wire soldered for brushless. Sadly, the board is different inside, so it won't accept another wire.

Thanks, fred0000. Sadly, as I said before, there's no information and I have yet to find them for sale.

BTW, the servo on mine is full metal gears and metal case. It's part number is AS-2, to match the receiver AR-2 an the transmitter AX-2. I'm guessing it's a whole new line of stock parts, however I cannot find any specs on a single piece of it.

That is really cool and the new 2.4 radio from the other thread. Way to go Axial

Maybe Bender or one of the other team guys can can chime in and tell us all about the new bits.

No worries.

Also, I just got an email from Axial. I requested specs for the AE-2 and they were kind enough to send it to me.

The part number is AX-24259. All searches with the new-found part number came up empty-handed, just as before.

Since I'm not able to attach anything, I have to post a screenshot of the PDF they sent:

.....and they still haven't updated their site with this info.

I hope this helps. Now that I have some info, I've made the decision to save myself 100 bucks for a new Sidewinder and just stick with the AE-2. For being stock, I feel it's a pretty good piece.
