I found a Holmes Revolver outrunner, they already have the correct bolt pattern.
Havent ran it yet, waiting on a tekin RS.
Experts say, 3s minimum voltage, and gear down.
Holmes is working on a sensored outrunner right now. Hence my sensored capable ESC.
Recommended motors: AXI2212/26 E-Flight Park 400, Revolver .

This motor looks like it has a 20mm bolt pattern so you'll need an adapter plate for 25mm mounting. Most probably it will have way more torque and power than a brushed motor of equivalent speed, but also some cogging.

I used outrunners for a good while and all I got from them was broken parts. Im on the handwound 35t bandwagon!

Default AX-10 Brushless outrunner

Currently running this motor on Axial Crawler, 12T pinion, stock spur, mip driveshafts / axles, etc etc.

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=5690

with this adapter plate--
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Aluminum-28mm-Bru...4.c0.m14.l1262

I also have the motor you mentioned, adapter plate fits it as well, just haven't tried it yet. Running it with an E-Z run 60 amp esc, so far, working good. Lots of torque, but, you must get the motor turning over, then you can back off the throttle some to slow it down. Takes more throttle to get the motor started than a brushed motor. Still have a bunch of esc settings to try, so may be that I have the deadband-?? set too low or something.
Running mine on 3 cell 1300--1500 lipo, get good 40min run time, up to an hour, depending on how hard you run it. Also get good wheelspeed with the 3 cell lipo on this gearing setup.
Haven't experienced any cogging with this set up as yet.

All in all, brushed has the low speed engagement advantage, but brushless is more efficient, more power for a lot less weight.
Brushed seems to have the better drag brake, but as I said above, still playing with the settings on this.
For the price of this outrunner, try it and brushed both, then see for yourself which you prefer.
Also run Tekin Fxr---55T motor....excellent set up as well.

I have that (http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...oduct=5690)and compared to this one: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...utrunner_Motor

it's not as good. The one I posted is a better motor for crawling, it doesn't stall as much. The A22-20L has more torque and better start up. Less cogging and stalling.

The 860Kv one will stall as well.

biggbear : I have read somewhere these ezrun esc have some lag on the throttle launch like you need alot of throttle trigger for the first move.. they are not as smooth like mamba max or novak...

Default Ax-10 brushless

I wouldn't say you need a "lot" of throttle, just more than you are used to giving on a brushed set up. And I am still playing with the settings as well.
I have a Mamba Max also, haven't tried it with this motor yet, but with all the available adjustability. this would be the better of the two esc, althought twice the price.
Also, as zoojunkie said, possibly the KD-A22-20L may have more torque, althought I have mine set up to let the slipper clutch do its job when jammed up. (don't want to snap anything quite yet~!) Haven't had any trouble with stalling yet, but then I probably haven't pushed mine as hard as some??? (I did get it pryed out of the crack, just had to use a big stick!!)
I am only going by the amps/kv for the motors when judging which one to get. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but for the price, easy to try a few different combo's.
Still an experimental thing for me though, am liking it so far~!

Now, looks like that 35-42 may bolt right up, may have to try that next?? (but maybe too heavy? )

This is the motor I was running. It has great torque and speed. It would be great in a basher rig but its not consistent enough for a comp rig tho.

I carry two flavors of adapter plates that fit practically any outrunner to a standard motor plate. The old DNA AX10 tranny plates allow outrunners and standard motors to fit as well.

I don't have any outrunners at the moment, but I do have one in development. The Hobby city ones are probably great for the money, I have never used them personally.

I run a quark 33A universal set up to 3D airplane mode. 3D airplane mode gives me drag brake and instant reverse. Not instant, but a 1 sec delay between trigger pull from full throttle to full reverse. I'm also running this set up w/ a 4S and increased the heatsink on the 33A Quark unit.

Default Ax10 brushless

You should have good luck with this setup. Mamba Max is the better of the esc, for sure. Lots of adjustability with this esc.
Running 3 cell lipo, gear around 12-14t pinion to start, with the stock spur gear, will give you good wheel speed when you need it. Make sure you slipper clutch is set properly, i/e a bit on the loose side to start with, till you get used to the power delivery.

Play with the settings on the esc till you get the throttle set up where you like it. and of course, let us know how it works for you when you get set up!!!!!
