Default Noise from differential

I have a noise sort of a grinding/loud whine coming from my diff. Buddy also has a ac10 with same diff and his is virtually quiet. I tore it apart completely, cleaned and greased all the gears and its just as bad as before.

Ideas?

Disassemble your axle and check the distance the pinion gear is sticking out. You need to make sure the bearing is seated all the way in. The other thing to do is check the carrier bearings on the diff and make sure they are smooth.

For pinion reference check page 8 in the instructions manual. There is a nice little picture of the depth.

If that is good the only other thing i can think of is the 4 screws on the diff that hold the cover on, make sure they are tight. If they are sticking out they might be hitting the case.
