Anybody else got any ideas? I'm running a bug body so it can't be that tall.

you can do separate plates on the axle and run a split pack

I'm using a 7cell pack in the same place, but it lays flat and runs up over the upper links.

What type of cells are u running in large cell counts? Sub c's or smaller? And will the axle battery plates work even though I'm running the lower cg plate.

Mine was a Traxxass 7 cell flat pack that I relocated the end battery to sit in the middle of the pack. I have my electronics on a link plate on the rear so the front is clear for the battery. Here is a pic of my truck before I relocated my electronics. |

Too much weight on the front end isn't bad? I want to go with something like a 3600 mah cell for run time but I think that may be to big. I have a 5 cell hump 5000 mah on the low cg plate now but it seems like everyone wants to run higher voltage packs for some reason

A higher voltage battery was a fraction the cost of a lower turn motor. Pumping more voltage into the stock 55t motor gives you more speed. I'm using a Sidewinder ESC which can handle a 3s lipo, so 8.4V NiMh is nothing for it. Not to mention, like you brought up, weight up on the front is a good thing, it helps your tires bite and not bounce. Once I do go Lipo, I'm going to have to add more wheel weight or something to make up the difference.
