Few upgrade for my Slingshot Right now looking at two different sets of shock for my Slingshot. First set is Traxxas GTRs and the other are Junfac 80mm Gmade Team G-transsition. Right now running a set of Sportwerks and they seem ok no leaking so far. Between the GTRs and the G-mades which are better and why. Also was wondering if going with a set of VP Zero Ackermanns are a bad idea with the Slingshot. Reason I ask is I've read the build threads and didn't see anyone using them. Edit: Right now I like the idea of the Gmades due to the internal springs, can go internal on the GTRs as well. Right now with my steering turned down a little bit I hit the springs when turning. |
i used front rustler or slash shocks with traxxas alluminum caps and they where cheap and great plus a little bit thinner than gtrs.i did limit them a bitmaybe 1/4". iused rustler front springs but was considering losi mini-ts good luck hope this might help |
I think the reason no one was using the VP zero ackers is cause they may not have been out at the same time that this chassis was popular. Looking at my slingshot now i do not see why you could not use these knuckles. As for shocks i use the front shocks from a Losi CR XXXT. Same as Losi comp shocks but only 90mm eye to eye. you can see them in my slingshot/frogger build |
I have the gmade 90mm gtransitions on order. I'll let you know when i get them what they are like. The price wasnt too bad |

Ya I got the medium springs waiting |
I got the shocks today. Put them together and set them aside for a few hours and came back to oil all around them. I used the included spring instead of the tcs ones. They are a great design and the quality is great aside from the leaking and a very tight internal fit. I will try mounting them upside down. I will post some pics tomorrow |
I have a couple of sets of g-mades that have never leaked after this little trick. Use teflon tape on the install (duh) but once you have them built and filled with oil squeeze them really hard to full compression. You will get some oil that weeps out. But after you clean that off all is good and no more leaks"thumbsup" |
I used automotive pipe sealant. It worked really well. Tested them out at work little bit amd so far i am really impressed. |

What rated springs did you use? Right now I'm using Losi 1.8 white spring. Would like to use something around the same softness. |
I used the ones supplied in the kit |

Are they soft, medium or firm? Just wondering if I should buy the TCS internal springs when I order the shocks. |
They are nice and soft. I would start with the supplied springs and change up from there. The stock are a nice place to start |
