That sounds like your best bet. If that doesn't help has anyone hooked up one of these to the castle link? Does it have the option to change the reverse options like the double pump or instant reverse? If not you'll probably have to contact Axial.

| AE-2 Programming with Castle Link
I have worked out how to program some features of the AE-2 without using Castle Link. Like the Castle Creation SideWinder ESC, the standard way of getting into the programming mode is as follows. You may want to disconnect your motor from the ESC first to avoid the chance of a runaway. 1. Switch off the ESC 2. Switch on the transmitter and hold full throttle 3. Switch on the ESC 4. Release the throttle AFTER the second series of tones The ESC uses tones to indicate what Options you are currently accessing and its setting. eg. Option 2 setting 3 will be "beep-beep, pause, beep-beep-beep". You accept the setting for the option by engaging full throttle, or you can go to the next setting by engaging full reverse. Once you have configured the last option, the ESC will emit a series of tones and when that is finished the settings are stored. There are 3 Options available and here are the Settings available: Option 1 - LiPo CutOff (I think, please test first) Setting 1 - Off Setting 2 - On Option 2 - Drag Brake Setting 1 - Off Setting 2 to 6 - varying degree Option 3 - Brake/Reverse type Setting 1 - Forward-Brake-Reverse Setting 2 - Forward and Brake only Setting 3 - Forward and immediate reverse For a crawler using LiPo, the setting would be: 1-2 2-6 3-3 Last edited by nook66; 06-04-2011 at 04:11 PM. |

In regards to drag braking, setting 1 is no drag braking. Drag braking becomes stronger progressively as you go higher with the setting. ie. Setting 6 gives you the most powerful drag brake to a point it almost caused my SCX10 to do a somersault when I release from full throttle!

Has anybody been running 3s on this esc without any problems? I've read some people say it can be done but I have not read about anyone running 3s all the time.

I am also curious I have ran 3s for short periods of time and their were no ill effects, I wish someone from castle or axial would just say "Hey, it's fully capable of running 3s we just didn't reccomend it so the rtr's we sell it on would not break as much with 3s power".

i have run 3s (1800mah and 2200man 25c) almost constantly on a new dingo (probably used 7 or 8 battery charges on it). the only thing that has happened to me sounds like a semi-common thing that has happened to others. the steering lockup and no throttle control momentarily. anybody know if this is caused by my 3s lipos? any have the same problem on 2s or non lipo batteries??
