Default AX10 Discontunued

I was searching for AX10 parts this evening and found a lot of aftermarket discontinuing their products for the AX10. What do you guys think parts availability will be like in the future? I got a lot of cash into mine and would hate to not be able to run it anymore because I broke something that is discontinued (gears, axleshafts, ect)! What about Axial part support? Will they keep selling parts even after its gone? Just wondering if I should stock up while I got the chance!

The SCX10 uses the same axles, gears, tranny, etc... Parts will be around for a good long while.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it. That stuff will be around for a long time.

I can't even imagine all the AX-10 based parts are out there right now the sales numbers from god knows how many production runs has to be staggering.

Yes, stock up.

After that, sell them for half of what you bought them for. I don't see parts for the AX being hard to find. Ever.

The AX10 is being slowly phased out, so some companies with high profit-margin requirements like proline are stopping production of parts that don't sell that well (like their frame extension kits). All the best selling parts will be available for a long long time.

I bought an SCX the last time I needed parts for a build. I knew I wasn't going to use an AX-10 chassis, wheels, tires or shocks so I bought the SCX instead. Sold off the chassis, wheels, tires and shocks and kept the rest. You'll have an easier time selling off stock SCX parts than you will stock AX-10 parts.

The kit he was talking about was the AXI90001, that was discontinued..sadly, cause I searched all over trying to find one. But in the end I just bought the XR10 instead.

I'm just finding out about the AX-10's slow death.. I was just made aware that the MIP AX-10 driveshafts were discontinued.. I think that is the dumbest decision I have ever heard and I was pretty darn mad.

Supposedly in May of this year, we are going to see some updated axial shafty axles. The only thing I have heard is that they will be wider.

90% of the after market parts that matter will never be discontinued. What are 90% of sportsman rigs based on?

See, this guy GETS me! I said the same thing in the New Axial thread in General and guys were like "oh, there are other options for narrow axles." I was nonplussed. I'm glad someone else sees it like I do. I can recall more people saying they wish their Axial axles were narrower than wider. Usually people who want wider axles get Wheely Kings. Its been said a million times before, its easier to increase your track width than decrease it. While I'm on a rant, Axial needs to make a 2 or 3 speed tranny and a few hard bodies and then they would rule the world.

i might be new to the axial stuff, but there "good" parts are getting hard to buy from known companies... They might list the parts or trucks but they are all out of stock. I have been waiting to buy a AX10 kit since the first of the year (1/2011). Every company i contact says they are only going to release the RTC (ready to crawl) and RTR (ready to race) sets sometime in March.

So i've been slowly peice'n mine together... And i mean slow.

There are a pair of axles with HD lockers on ebay right now and and a choice of transmissions. Buy them and build from scratch - save you the cost of a kit, most of the bits you'd end up replacing within 6 months anyway.

Or buy a star support the forum and shop the classifieds to buy an already upgraded ax10 for less than the price of a shop bought one.

Or do what C*H*U*D did
