| IS it waterproof
Today i was out wheeling in the snow and i was climbing some rocks and well flipped in some water and it stopped working so took off all electronics and put on the header to dry them. How waterproof is all the stock electronics and do yall think i possibly need new esc, servo and what is a good setup for waterproof and good electronics.

Can't comment on if they are waterproof, must not be if they stopped working. But place them in a ziplock bag full of dry rice, the rice will draw the moisture out of the electronics and they may be salvageable.

Rice works amazing, my daughter accidently knocked our video camera into the lake off of our friends dock at their cottage and after leaving it in a bowl of rice for the rest of the weekend it was good as new. Just had to tell my experience LOL.

I waterproofed my stock Axial electronics by taking them apart and spraying the electronic boards with Plastidip untill they are completely coated. That works for RX and ESC. Just leave the heat sink uncovered. On the RX you will need to use silicone on the plugs and crystal after the plastdip. Take apart the servo and pack the gearcase half full of grease, Reassemble and spray the case seams with plastidip over and over untill it has a nice coating. If you do this you can submerge your crawler in water for as long as you want. A can of plastidip costs under $10 at lowes or home depot. Also pack your tranny and axles FULL of grease. Poke holes in your tires tread surface. Waterproof the battery also. As far as better electronics, well anything is better than the stock axial gear. Traxxas has a waterproof ESC, you can put a nice reciever in a box and seal it. The plastidip method works for quality servos as well just use good grease and lots of coatings and try to leave some heat sink exposed. |

| wrong, its best to keep the tires sealed. so you do not get soggy foams that will load up with dirt and grit and then they break down much much faster and become uselss and if you have memory foams they will become standard foams if kept wet long enough and dirty. and batterys do not need water proofing

I've had good luck with the MG Chemicals spray on Acrylic Laquer Conformal Coating...here's MG Chemicals coatings. First at top of list # 4198 is what I used: http://www.mgchemicals.com/products/protcoat.html Bought it at Fry's, but any good electronics store should have it in stock. |
