| tranny output upgrade
Hey guys ive been having a problem with breaking the outputs on the tranny of my scaler. I was thinking of upgrading my sportsman and scaler at the same time. I was looking at the robinson racing one piece ( http://www.ckrccrawlers.com/robinson...10-p-2414.html ) and that looks great for the sportsman but for the scaler i was thinking of putting a dig on it at some point so the robinson one wouldnt work. I see the steel outputs they are like half the price but idk if those are an actual upgrade or just a cheap replacement.( http://www.ckrccrawlers.com/ax30544-...on-p-2702.html ) I am running these on both rigs now http://www.ckrccrawlers.com/ax30404-...t-2-p-811.html |

If you are planning to go Dig, the axial steel's are the way to go. The ones you listed (Ax30544) are the deffinate upgrade as they are actually steel, not aluminium. I have also used 3Racing stainless steel ones without an issue. |

The robinson one peice diff is the best you can get for the sportsman. For the scaler with dig: I used the Robinson Racing HD aluminum output gear with the DNA dig HD outputs. http://www.rpphobby.com/ProductDetai...ctCode=RRP1540 You should also upgrade the idle gear to robinson HD. |

Another Vote for the RR one piece gear. Such a solid bit of gear. good luck breaking it. Another one to look at might be the new crawler innovations out drives that Eddie has just released. |

I just installed a set of 3 racing stainless steel outdrives tonight. I snapped one of the stock aluminum ones last week. The way I look at it is that anything steel has got to be better than the stock aluminum ones.

If your looking for good ones. BOWTIE sells some great ones for a better price and yes they are steel. You can also go to TheToyz.com and he sells some nice stainless that I have had NO issues with. |

FWIW, I am running both the RR solid in my Pro truck and the 3R SS 2pce units in my Sportsman. Both are equally effective, although the RR unit is behind a Holmes Hobbies/3S combo.... Last edited by stewbaru; 03-01-2011 at 09:47 PM. Reason: Corrected by my brother VV | |
