Once again thee rig looks good Fred. My first AX wieghed like 9lbs
Going lighter is the in thing. I thougt the rule of thumb was MOA's lighter and shaftys heavier. I was pissed when my sporty rig wieghed 5.1lbs.

my overall weight really isn't to bad at 5.58125 pounds i'm just glad I dont have to ad more weight to it.... or any weights at all, makes installing the wheels/tires a bit quicker

I was going to order one of these battery mounts, but Kurtus420 had one for sale and better yet he was local, no waiting required.

green is a little overplayed, everyone and everyone they know has green, plus it wont match my orange so out came the oven cleaner again (be carful if you do this, outside may be a good idea)

good enough.

installed

JUST contacts the lipo on steered right. (nothing to be worried about)

no contact steered left

a little to close.

minor trimming, helps alot.

Looks good! A simple battery/servo guard maybe a good idea. I know the body partly protects the battery but its better safe than poof, or a cracked servo case .

I like how you decided to defy convention and make it silver instead of green. A lil scrubdown with a scotch-brite pad can give it a nice brushed finish if you care to do that

servo protection is defenatly going to happen, I have a crawler inovations one on the way for my XR10, now that this crawlers servo is moved over aswell i'll have to order up another once funds build up. i'm trying to think of something lightweight to use to protect the lipo too. we'll see about that.

Protect the lipo with thick lexan
Or use 1/16inch delrin.
Or PM rowdy and give him the idea to make one.

I made a custom servo guard with some .080" thick 5052 aluminum [it is pretty cheap and easy to cut, drill and bend, just be careful milling it, it is GUMMY when hot!] in about 20 mins on my mill. That said though it doesn't take a lot to protect the servo, just something to make sure a sharp rock won't puncture the battery is all you need. I still need to protect my battery

You could just go to your local hardware and buy a piece of Alu channel to sit over the lipo. Then hold it in place with your existing velcro strap.

thats exactly what I was thinking, just something stupid simple like that, since all my lipos are now the same it would be perfect.

the rig feels like it should perform alot better with the weight moved, i'm happy with the change so far, just need to add some protection

I went to the LHS and and picked up a 0.06" sheet of lexan and some epoxy, little bit of work and ta-da battery protection. I also have a rowdy racing servo armor, I think I paid 15$ with shipping. you should also make yourself a longer drag link, it will help with the steering.

nothing against rowdy racing, and I know I can get servo ear clamps, but I really like the idea of a servo protector that has the servo clamps built in, and seeing that crawler inovations servo protectors are about the same price, its no loss. I am looking into a longer draglink for sure, I had a longer then stock one on my stock setup and liked it alot more, thanks for the tip.
is your battery protection now part of the battery? kinda like a home brew hard case lipo, or can it be used for all your packs (assuming they're all the same)

lookin good man, what a pain in the ass getting the green off the plate hey, I did the same for the 4 link plate on my daughters honcho, took a long time and lots of scrubbing strangely enough. does that battery fit your xr10, i have 2 of the 3s 1000mah at my house right now and wondering if i should be looking for something smaller.

The case just covers the top, front, back, and the side with the tire. I have 2 of those batteries, so i can switch the cover between the two, that is my second battery cover. The first one got really beat up, i think the next one i do i will bend the side pieces instead of using separate pieces.

Hey Murder, with the 1/8" delrin, be warned it will flex under the power of the servo. Unless you use additional posts to support the plate.
