Default AX10 Tranny vs 12T motor

Anyone think the stock tranny (with steel gears in tranny and in each axle) could handle a 12t motor? I have an AX10 then built an XR10 so I just want to have the AX10 as a basher. I put the stock ESC back into the truck as well. Thanks!

Crawling won't be an option. Now rock racing is a potential. I would be curios to know how long those axles will hold ? Also, how much torque it would have ? Can you say SNAPPY !

get some MIPs or Junfacs. Stock shafts wont last long. Isn't there a motor turn limit on the stock ESC? Sounds like a helluva fun time.

I do have MIPS installed too. I'm not sure if there is a motor turn limit or how to find out. I have my built up XR10 for crawling so I'm not concerned about that. I just want to set it up with a fast cheap motor and go crazy with it!

Anyone know the stock ESC capabilities?

I ran a LRP 8.5t brushless for a while and the stock outputs broke, but no problems other than that

Should handle it fine. I've put a 4300kv brushless on 3s into mine before...didnt even blink an eye.

I would recommend decent drive shafts & steel outputs.

The stock AE-1 ESC can handle down to a 15t 540 which is about the same as a 12t 550.
