I have seen the egressor knuckles do that to some ci koas before. They are just big enough and soft enough that it is the perfect storm unfortunately. Still a bummer no less.

Ran on Tuesday, but the lighter front wheels just weren't doing it. I lost 3oz per side which was just too much. I was hoping to get knuckles machined and weights added, but I'll get to that in a second.

I really wanted to get down to the Crawlspace and pick up these:

New knuckles to mess with without having to take my front end apart. I also picked up another set of SLW's. Ikaika and Tiff were kind enough to set them aside for me last week. Thanks

These are V4's but that's ok since once again, they will not be seen. The weights for the back work out well since they are close to the same as my old wheels.

Now on to the fronts. Like I said, I was hoping to have knuckle weights by now, but my schedule is killing me, so I decided to just make the fronts the same weight as the old wheels.

A quick check with Solidworks told me I need these to be .375" to get to the same weight. I decided to just make a second 3/16" spacer and use longer screws.

Some of you are probably wondering why I'm doing this. I know the trend these days is the absolute lightest wheels with a pound of knuckle weights, but this isn't about how much weight I can add. I'm trying to duplicate the exact weight of my old wheel/tire combo, but carry the weight as far outside as possible. My old wheels carried all their weight inside, so I wanted to see how this worked...just an experiment with bias.

Right now the front wheels are about a half ounce more per wheel than before, and the rears are a tick less than before. I'm going to run it like this while I work on the knuckles.

Kinda a dumb question but was wondering the wheels from the first post seem to be a deep dish type wheel and have no inset on the back and atm im haveing issues mounting my 3s 1300 lipo on my front tray and what im getting at do you think a set of wheels like that would give me that extra 1/4 to 1/2 ich clearance i need the stock ax10 wheels make my tires rub my lipo (2.6 inches long ).

The SLW's give me more room on the insides because of the hubs that I'm using, but even my old wheels had room for a 1300, 3S. Do you have a picture of how you are mounting your battery?

I use VP SLW's with their .850 hubs up front. But Junfac widners might also get the job done for you:

Thats normal if you're using overdrive/underdrive gears.

Hey Tracy,

Yes you can. The Wraith uses the same locker as the AX-10.

Your tires hit the battery because the rim is too wide. I have similar issues, when you get rims that are 1" or narrower that will add the additional steering that you need. Another option is to bend the battery tray down toward the solid axle housing. This will move battery closer to the center of the rim and further away from tire-tread.

Hope this helps.

Posted this up on the UGC Facebook page, so I figured I'd put it here too. It's a side shot of my 4-link in the front. It sits under a stock Axial BTA plate in the stock location. It's about 1/4" wide, and I'm using 1/8" spacers to standoff the links. This way I can adjust the width as well as the height. Just something I've been playing with.

That's a real rough proto I made one day at lunch. Quick and dirty just for testing.
