| Re: C*H*U*D's Sporty I wish my 5th generation final products looked half as good as that, haha! That is a great way to accomplish something I tried with my front plate, except in a much simpler and more usable way. Awesome!

Uhhh....I made it off center on purpose to test the effects of..uhm, Torque Twist!! Yeah, that's what I was doing That's why I offset it to the left side...to make the right side longer. That's my story and I'm sticking to it |

Hey Papafogle. you want to be in the XR10 section. Check out Harley's XR10 guide for a wiring diagram.

It's been awhile since I updated this. My schedule lately only lets me drive it once a week, then put it back on the shelf for 7 days. I weighed this awhile back and it was 6lbs 2oz. It was time for a diet. First thing to go was the unused dig unit. It was only there because I didn't have time to lengthen the rear driveshaft. Almost an ounce and a half gone. Next on the chopping block was the skid. I machine the grooves into the skid at .030" deep. On mine, I decided to go to .070" deep. While I was at it, I decided to get rid of the unused material on top. This resulted in an 8g savings of nothing but dead weight. I'm also running 3/16" crossbars which also save 6g. The team drivers have been running this on the Viper II so I wanted to try it here. Then it was time to address the rear driveshaft. No dig meant it was too short, so I made a sleeve to make it longer. I decided on just about 1" longer. I grabbed a 12-pack of Dale's Pale Ale and stopped by toybuilder's house on the way home. He hit it with the TIG, and it was ready to go back in. Thanks Clint The old VP final drive gear was gone, so it was time for a new Robinson. The VP unit was pretty worn, and there was a lot of slop from front to rear. This always made the front and rear feel disconnected to me. New shaft went in and fit great. With the loss up top, I decided to start playing with weight down below. I was experimenting with keeping the weight in the wheels the same, but moving it outside. Now I want to try lowering the weight. I took about half out of the front and rear. Eventually, I will make up weight if I have to with knuckle and axle weights. Now it sits at just over 5lbs. I took it out yesterday, and really liked the new feel. There is still something up with my front shocks, but that will have to wait until next week. I plan to get some Ti links on order and installed. I'll post up when I get them. I also switched over tonight to 4S |

The driveshaft and skid look great! You can buy a 12 pack of Dale's Pale Ale? And the dream of 4S! What turn motor/gearing are you running?

I run a 45t Holmes Torquemaster Pro with 14/87 gearing. I was messing with it last night, and I can put the truck on it's back with a few blips, and back onto it's wheels with a few more. Throttle control make take a few runs to get used to, but I think it's going to be better.

I've had the XR-10 knuckles for awhile, and planned on making some sort of high steer setup for them. I was talking with Snowmobile Jim at Tuesday's Comp and he uses the VP Wraith knuckles. After looking at his, I realized they did everything I wanted, so I bought a set. Luckily The Crawlspace has all of this stuff behind the counter...thanks Tiff I've been wanting to put my servo horn back behind the front for awhile, so I made a new tie rod to go on the front. I wanted it high and tucked away. This will probably be temporary until I see how it works, and will then be replaced with a Ti setup. It looks chunky, but it's actually lighter than the all-thread/Stainless setup I had before.

The black Fastbacks are sold out again, so I'm making more bottoms. While I was at it, I decided to make a few sets out of 3/32" thick aluminum as well as the standard 1/8". It saves just under a 1/4oz, so I figured it was worth trying out. I've never heard of a Fastback lower failing, so I wanted to see if it could be made lighter. DigitalDave303 and I will be testing these to see how they hold up. |

Updates looks great! Run that chassis down to 1/16th carbon fiber! The FF-SZ is holding up great. Well on second thought the FF-SZ is a one piece setup. Forgot the FB is two piece. |
