Great build. Watching this has given me some good idea. I am running a fastback chassis, and pulled my VP dig myself and have a similar issue with my junfac shafts. I ordered a 123 to 150 mm shaft and hopefully it will fit. I will see if it works or not. If not I really plan to do the similar traxxas mod with the junfac parts.

got my Mayham engineering Evo wheels. very nice kit. And my knuckle weights fit nicely inside. gotta fix the bead on this one Last edited by Jessf; 12-16-2011 at 10:08 AM. |

I'm very tempted by the pitbull XOR's - how are you finding them? ...shame you can't use the centre knuckle weight hole |

I haven't tried the xor yet, but will soon and post my findings. I can say they feel super sticky compared to my Chisels. as for the centre hole, I think I can get a shell in there if I cut it down I just haven't brought out the dremel yet Last edited by Jessf; 12-17-2011 at 09:36 AM.

4lbs 6oz. That's pretty light for a whole setup, is it not? I've gotten so use to the light weight stock plastic wheels I'm not sure if I should switch back to my chisels for an upcoming comp or just go at it with the new Evos. |

Anything less than 5 lb is pretty light.

| Re: Y U NO Crawl? - Axial Mod 3.0 and that's with the Evos which weigh noticably more than the stock plastics. I did the old bathroom scale method, 3 times for good measure. I still want to weigh it on a digital mail scale to make sure. I picked up a rig at GTA Hobbies that must have weighed 6lbs+ and it felt too heavy for my style. |

Erik did an awesome job on my custom rear links. Fit and finish is primo. shocks may see some scrapes now, but otherwise I'm happy with how much additional clearance and rigidity I get with the TI lower links. |

Very nice. When I eventually bust the top on my Fastback I'm going to have to redesign it and give the skid some rake to get that mondo clearance out back.

Looks great! I am glad you did the figuring on those links, it looks tight! Good job. |

This is a great build, love the clearance under the rear links. Just my opinion but the esc at the back and all the wires running back and forward make it look a bit messy compared to the rest of the rig. I'd suggest a compact esc like the fxr to minimize wires, weight, space and move the weight bias forward more. The fxr could probably fit on the front upper links and a cobalt puller to minimize how much the motor sticks out the side.

ya the wiring bother's me as well. I've been looking for other ESC's. The Fxr is this one? http://www.greathobbies.com/producti...d_id=TEKTT1091 And the puller is brushed motor of smaller diameter? I've seen pics of the puller, the length might be an issue. Quote:

I would almost guarantee you a Puller won't fit. Any narrow chassis I put one into I had to custom make it to fit. Even the Certain Death chassis had to be modified. I can get you measurements of the motor if you'd like. |

The cobalt puller is 2.5" long and 1.35" in diameter it is also discontinued, but there is a new version of it I just can't remember the name of it. By the looks of your chassis there is some room to spare but not an extra half inch. A custom engine plate will be required and you may gain some clearance off the chassis by mounting the motor higher. You may still have to file the chassis down to fit it in, I guess it depends if you value the symmetry of the two chassis rails over the clearance gained by fitting a smaller diameter motor. Would be a shame to start hacking into the chassis with a file too, maybe just do some of your own measurements and see how you go.

Right now the electronics are as low as they can be situated over the rear axle as I have it. Moving the components over the front axle may move the weight forward but it will also move it higher. I don't want to have to add more weight down low to counter the weight up high, right now the rig weighs 4lbs 6oz. 10cm or 4" of clearance with the new links

I think the electronics placement looks good. I ran mine like that for a while and liked it, though there is a risk of beating that stuff up when you take a tumble down the rocks.
