Default Americanricer87's AX10 Build

Well I have had a Revo 3.3 for awhile now and decided to get another RC, and after watching a ton of rock crawling and trail videos on youtube I decided that was what i wanted to get into. So after a trip to a lhs I decided to go with an Axial AX10 RTC. Also picked up a Venom 4200mah battery pack and a Prophet Sport 2 charger.

Thanks! well shortly after unboxing it, decided to go with the high clearance aluminum links, and wanted to waterproof the electronics. So i picked up some plasti-dip and tried water proofing them. well after that I couldn't get the stock ESC to stay powered up, well I tried a new receiver and transmitter that I had for my Revo, and it didn't help as it turns out the ESC had a broken wire going into it. so I picked up a Traxxas VX5 and for now am using a spectrum sr300 reciever

Yes, yes, yes, and yes.

More specifically, relocate the battery to the trashcan. You'll soon be finding out that its holding you back.

Nice lookin rig, wait till you put on softer tires, weigh the tires down..start with 60/40..front/back, then adjust from there...better motor, lipo, lower cg....these go a lot of places...then you can get in to scalers..maybe a MOA

and welcome

what do you guys mean the battery is holding me back? and i eventually would love to go to an tekin fxr setup, but for now i'm looking into changing the tires and adding weights, I plan on running this thing on the trail and in the dirt more than crawling on a rock course but it will see some creek time. also does the 4 link setup make a difference like it does in a full size rig? I would love to get a different steering servo, thinking of going traxxas 2075.

what everyone is trying to say is that with the 7.2V stick pack up on top like it is your center of gravity is really high and when you get into off camber climbs your rig will be very tippy. If you were to upgrade to lipo you can get smaller pack that fit lower in the chassis and they are alot lighter that stick packs hope that helps. here is a link for the lipos that I use HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : Turnigy 800mAh 2S 20C Long Lipo Pack

From what I know the mah rating describes how long the battery will last. I like my 4200 cause it will last well over an hr. I liked how some ppl split the packs and mount them over the front servos. Is that not recommended? And I went with the Ax10 rtc cause its locked all four where as the rtr has a front diff. Not really ideal for crawling imo.

Yes, mah's is the measure of the "gas tank".

However, you have to do the math on lipo's a bit differently to be safe and not wipe out a brand new pack.

You're still running a nickel pack so don't worry about that just yet.

You can split the 4200 if you want. A few people still run them that way, but most everyone has made the switch to lipo. They're lighter, more powerful, and more compact. You can put them almost anywhere you WANT to instead of where you HAVE to.

hey duuuuuuuude I have yet to have a problem with any of the packs that I have and as for the mah with the 800's I have and the novak setup with a 55t motor, Hitec HS-7955tg servo. I am getting approx 35-45 min of run time and the packs aren't even warm when I change them.

youll need a low voltage cut-off to run lipo with the XL-5.... But optamaly youll want something (like the FXR, C.C., etc.) that has a drag brake.

Dont use the traxxas 2075 unless you dont plan on ever working the truck on anything other than fairly smooth ground. If you plan to use the truck, get a good servo! OH & get rid of the servo saver....

You could flip your shocks to get the weight lower as well. mirror the transmition to help with the torque twist.

& yah like everyone sais the smallre battery makes a huge differance! So do good tires & weight.
