Well step one of lightening my truck is to get rid of my heavy Ti links and put on some lighter ones...

Yesterday at Chris' shop we tried making these 1/8" Ti upper links and managed to ruin 2 dies making 1 link. So I'm going to try some fancy grease and see if these 3 dies will be enough to make the last 3 links.

Wish me luck!

Got the links all finished. Upper links are 1/8" Ti that I ran a 6/32 die over. GC3 rod ends. 110mm and 128mm eye to eye

Lower links are 7075 Aluminum with a 10/32 die over them. Revo rod ends drilled out with a 5/32" bit. 107mm and 129mm eye to eye

More to come!

Here are a bunch of new parts I made at the Creation Fab shop yesterday. Couldn't be any more thankful for Chris the Battery Guy for taking a day to tinker on my toy trucks (yes I said "trucks", my XR rebuild is next!)

New light weight front servo/link mount

New chassis braces

New light weight skid. Also decided to inboard the lower links more.

Glad you got those TI uppers to take a thread. I must have been rushing em or something.

It was fun to hang out and have a man date

All the momentum from working on your rig, translated into me getting a chassis and links together for my new XR. Hopefully it will be all ready for next weekends comp.

Now get back to work son!!!

Yeah, it took at least 30 min to make em. I could only cut 1/4 turn then back off 2 turns etc....

Got the chassis all assembled.

Then I decided to change the steering set-up to get the battery on the front axle like the "cool kids"

1/8" carbon motor plate I made real quick yesterday. Also put some brass inserts in the bottom of the trans. I'm going to try running it with just 2 screws and see if it holds up.

Transmission bolted in, drive lines on, electronics tossed in.

Perfect stance!

Nice and skinny!

That's it for tonight!

Well the truck is driving really well. I drove it a couple times through the 2.2P course at Tuesday's comp. Tazz was able to get some pretty good video on his phone.

Sportsman crawling an MOA course. High Rocks ORCRC - YouTube

Thanks a bunch! Chris the battery man got a -33 on the course (bonus gates were -5 each) out of a possible -40, he drove like a boss!

I will try to get more video tonight at our weekly comp. All the 2.2S trucks are coming out tonight!

More video footage from a Tuesday night comp. I was the first one to drive the course and ended up getting the low score!

I love the body too! Unfortunately it's just a loaner from Chris the Battery Guy. Which he got from another guy, who got it from another guy, who got it from some guy, lol! This body has been tossed around like a beachball at a Nickelback concert. (Not sure what's up with the LED's)

This truck is really stable in off-camber situations like the one at 1:51. It's crazy!
