Default Sourdough's SuperSport Truck

Here is the chassis I drew up on some graph paper. It's a re-make of Falloots "Rock Spider" chassis which works awesome on my XR-10!

I had some 1/16 Delrin laying around so I decided to make the proto chassis out of that.

It only took about 10 min to cut it out on the scroll saw and drill the holes.

I still need to make a skid. But everything should fit in here perfect!

So I didn't have this truck running today for the comp. But here are my axle's mocked up, the front links still need work.

Nice and SKINNY!

Should have some great break over

More updates to come!

I borrow some wheels and tires from my roomy to finish the mock-up.

Here it sits at close to ride height. Just over 3" of belly.

Full Compression is a little too far. I need to put some 1/4" limiters in my shocks.

Here it sits at full droop with 3 1/2" of clearance at the highest point.

That's all for tonight!

TOM

What size motor? 400? I'm getting so inspired to make my own chassis with stuff like this popping up all over on here, nice work.

That is a super sporty! Awesome truck.

what turn is that motor? I have an old astroflight 27t, same style as the one pictured, and was thinking of giving it a go.

The motor is a 480 size and a 5 pole 12turn armature. Thank you, I love making my own chassis. It's been way too long!

Thank you. Its a 12 turn 5 pole motor. Work's pretty good, but it isn't the smoothest down low...

Looks good. Post up when you've had a chance to run it. What's your motor?

I should have it running by this weekend. I'll try to get Chris the Battery Man to shoot some video of it in action

The motor is a 480 sized puller. Holmes sold them on his site as a "puller 500" but they are no longer being made They are the perfect size between the 454 puller and the full size puller motors.

I threw together some front lower links out of 8/32 all thread sleeved with aluminum. Then I built a skid out of 1/2" delrin I had laying around. Now she's a roller! Fitting in my wad of electronics up front is going to be a little tricky!

Sorry I haven't updated this thread in a while... I took the truck to a couple comps and ran in the PRO class. It did very well. The last ORCRC comp was held at SuperDave's house on his giant indoor rock course. Which is known to be very brutal. I was able to finish all 4 courses that day and ended up placing 5th overall

On my last course I got into a weird bind and ended up snapping my flimsy delrin chassis. So I am in the process of getting some 7075 or titanium chassis plates made up.

Here is the broken chassis plate.

I redesigned the shape a tiny bit.

Here is the Ti Rock Spider Chassis I based this shafty chassis off of.

And with the Ti cab

That's all for now!

Looks like the slanted skids are coming in hot on the shafty class. Love the design
