Default Spider Monkey

Well my addiction started about 2 years ago with the crawler bug. I bought AX10 and put a bug body on it

Then I did a few mods to it over some time and found out that the factory chassis has a little to much flex for my taste so I bought a SWX chassis.

Then I wanted to go bodiless and I searched around and found a few good threads about the Fastback II so I had to get one. This part of the build takes place at my camp in the mountains. So I was only limited to the tools I had taken with me.

Then the chassis.

i had to notch the chassis a little cause I'm not running a dig and wanted the trans as far forward possible.

Here she as a roller while I was away from my shop.

I had to change the front suspension a little cause the tires were hitting the shocks and I also had to remake my links cause I didn't like my pinion angle.

Tell me what ya think.

Gonna try and get it totally finished and running by tomorrow.

Are your C-hubs on the wrong ends of your front axle? 'Cause it looks to me like you could afford to rock that axle back quite a bit more yet, which would really get those kingpin angles pointing towards the sky!

I put my axle at that angle so that i can get a good driveshaft angle.

Yes i like using the brake line and revo ends. I use them on every crawler I build. They seem like the unbreakable.

do you thread the outside of the brake line and put the revo end over that or the inside and use a piece of allthread as a grub screw?

Thanks. I use 8/32 all thread inside of 3/16 or 6mm brake line. The all thread fits inside the brake line. There very easy to make and very durable. I just made another set for a buddys scale build last nite.

Got a small update:

Got the trans totally mounted and the drive shafts made.

I have one slight problem my tires want to hit my servo and also my battery when I'm turning all the way. Does anybody have any suggestion to help this?

Looking good.

I ended up making my own front plate to get everything out of the way. Once you start clocking the knuckles back things get real tight.

It does look good! One thing you might be able to do is a wheel with slightly less backspace. I run a set of wheels I made some time ago because they still give me the clearance that I like. The servo side will just make noise, but it is possible to wear through that battery so be careful.

I have my XR-10 mod started so my current wheels might be a problem as well.

x2 on the offset wheels.

The servo eventually wear through or tear a hole in the sidewall. I did it to mine just before the adjustable offset wheels from Calvin showed up.

Thanks for the help. I'm gonna try and move the servo over some and move the battery to the rear links with my ESC and receiver up front.

Wider offset wheels, or doing the longer beef tubes/XR mod.

I already have gunnar tubes in the front and with Christmas around the corner im using anything that I mite have in the shop or get for free.

So I was messing around with the elctronics last nite and when I put the battery on the rear links it seemed to balance the truck out a little more. Im gonna make a small plate out of lexan and mount the battery back there and put the esc and receiver on the front axle.
