Your drivetrain is on its way sir. The rear axle is ready to rock just bolt on your link plate, it was greased and waterproofed after i installed the new case and xhd locker, so don't pull it apart unless you want nasty hands. the other XHD locker is in the box for you to rebuild the front with.

ahh sweet you threw in a tranny too? thanks Rootar, you're the best.

I'll have some nasty hands because there is no need for a waterproofed axle on a comp truck.

either way your efforts are much appreciated. go team ram rod

No joke wear latex gloves the grease i use around the perimeter of my axle cases is NASTY, it also stinks, and itll stain your pretty little hands. Youll have more than enough fun with the front axle to worry about the rear.

and yes minus a case, a top shaft, and some bearings you have a tranny as well.

i kept my green gates you bastard

Great start Ashton, I was digging the V1 but after seeing the V2 I am very impressed. It looks like its gonna be very trick It reminds me of a baby kitten

My Sporty build is in parts just sitting on a bench collecting dust and it will never be as cool as yours

Yeah I still need to name the chassis. If I pick "baby kitten" I'm not sure that the truck will be able to live up to it's name.

It sounds like you have something up your sleeve? Get to cracking with the beans spillage.

(in your own thread, though)

While I'm waiting on parts to finish the build I decided to go ahead and start messing with the wheel and foam setup. I will be using some prototype inner foams that Eddie at Crawler Innovations has been working on for a while now. I have had great success running them in Khaos tires on my berg so I had to have some for this build. They are a closed cell foam pre-cut to 1.75". From my understanding they will be offered in different widths for different wheel sizes. A channel is machined out to leave room for the tire bead. Without that channel properly mounting tires with these foams would be nearly impossible because they are so dense. One prototype foam weighs 6.7 grams which is less than one of my regular firm inners that weighed over 7 grams.

I have been a firm believer in running an inner support ring but they are now unnecessary with the new inners. I think it's better than running a ring because these foams cover the whole wheel.

I will be testing these on this truck with some siped white dot Rovers.

They will be complimented with some all-adjustable aluminum 1.25" Mayhem Evo bead locks. I won't have any clearance issues with these!

I like to vent my wheels so I needed to vent the foam too. I like to use a body reamer. You have to make sure that you make the hole large enough to compensate for a little foam "squish" once they break-in. Other people will probably just vent the tire.

CI PROTOTYPE closed cell inner foam outfitted with a 5.5" CI soft outer

Don't forget the vent holes! I drill about 8, 1/4" holes around the foam.

...

3mm carbon fiber front and rear 4-link plates are done. Just waiting on the USPS for the V2 chassis templates and I will get to cutting the 1.5mm. Should be in a few days and they'll be heading back your way.

thanks. I borrowed that idea after I saw a pic of John Ripplinger's rovers at a west coast qualifier.

Is the middle ring the firmest or is the inner ring the firmest? And can anyone comment on why? <3's all around, thanks in advance!

It's one foam. What you are calling the "inner" is actually the same black foam but it is channeled out to leave room for the tire beads.
