Here are a few pics of it all mocked up for link measurements. Shane did a hell of a job doing this by hand. With this configuration the front of the skid is at 2 7/8" and the rear of the skid is at 3.5" and the clearance at the links 3.75". I still need some driveshafts, but this gives you the idea of how much more it will weigh in the end with everything on it. I can still lose weight in other places by running stock tranny gears or running a smaller motor, but I'll worry about that stuff later. |

Looks great, but mockup your rear driveshaft when you get it. Hope it's not too exposed.

Very slick Ashton, the CF hand job is fantastic, Shane did a nice job. The belly clearance is in that sweet zone any more and you'll probably raise your COG without adding some low weight, it will still side hill really well. It looks like it's going to be very light rig, you can add low weight from here and still be light as a feather. I should be a beast man. |

Why have the front IC located out over the rear axle. Won't that make the truck floppy and torque twisty when using reverse?

yup @ 6.0v Thanks dude! Quote:
I'm not sure what you are talking about. I'm guessing that you might be referring to the upper link mounting points at the rear axle?

Assuming this works for a front suspension logic as compared to a rear suspension logic. The Instant Center and Center Of Gravity are related to each other. Where the IC is in relation to the COG effects squat/anti-squat. And caster would effect the location of IC. So depending on where the COG for this rig is, will determine if the IC being out past the rear axle will help or hurt the suspension action/handling. And that hinges on what you want your squat/anti-squat setup to be on a crawler. Plus, your only talking about reverse situations. Helhedded will need to find COG first to see if your question is right/wrong.

While I'm waiting on parts I started messing with the electronics and their placement. I'll be using a de-cased Holmes Hobbies BRX-L ESC paired up with a Castle BEC. This is the direction that I'm headed in. |
