BTA came out great, gets pretty tight with lots of caster, good job!

Needs more caster. Good idea on the small washers for the chassis mount screws.

Thanks man, though I can't take credit on the BTA. A friend of mine put this together for me the other day. I can take the credit on the caster, though. We originally had the C hubs on backwards and there was roughly 13* degrees of caster. The next day I had realized that they were up side down so once I fixed them I had 26* .

Yeah the washers are a must. I still need to put a few more on there.

Ashton, the truck just looks bad ass as hell. You've got yourself a nice one, it should kick some serious Sporty tail.

Thanks Norm! Now I just need for it to act like it looks. Which brings me to my next post.

So after Opek's post about IC I started digging around to learn about Squat, IC, COG and so on. It took me a while to figure it out but I think I got it.

The truck drives great in forward, but there is some rear tire lift when going in reverse. Exactly what Opek stated would happen. Preloading the front drastically reduced this, but I'd like to figure out why the lift is happening. Is there an optimum location for IC?

I found my cog using this method. Anti Squat and Suspension Tech post #374

It's the easiest way that I have found to measure it, but if anyone knows of a better way for a n00b please let me know.

going off of this image

rear squat

front squat

Raising my front upper on the chassis by one hole gets me closer to 100%, so I might try that out tonight.

Yes sir!

I was driving back to work thinking about all of this and it hit me. Perhaps I need to think backwards to tune this out. According to the drawing I have a ton of antisquat in the back so I'm going to reduce that and see if it helps my problem.

Two holes up on the front, 3-4 holes up on the rear! Then report back.

Correct. My results will be slightly off due to me not having a body on the rig, but I can always "re-guesstimate" once I get a lid on there. Total weight in the pictures with tires is 5.3lbs, but there is roughly 8oz of knuckle weight on the truck. I should have this thing sewed up by this weekend ...got backtracked this week fawking around with beefy t00bs and line drawings.

Here is how I found my cog

OD/UD gears. When moving forward the gearing helps to keep the rig stretched out. So, when you drive it backwards, the exact opposite happens. The front axle is trying to overtake the rear axle by going under the truck (the only direction it can go).

I think I've decided, because of the absurd scale of these things, the only way to verify would be to stick the IC right on the normal line as it would be drawn with that COG and see if the truck in fact doesn't work the suspension. I mean, I can only assume the sprung weight changes as the truck flexes and the links and springs load the chassis differently with their mass. How that works, well hopefully some engineer is reading this right now and can chime in.

I think the only way for me to answer some basic questions I have about IC is going to be building a few chassis that are almost identical. It seems there is a lot more to be learned when you have these things in your hands than with some other things, like say 1:1 fuel systems and turbos.

Anyway, can't wait for more on the rig and some videos so I can see how wonderfully it drives.

It was until I flipped my Evo spoke around to give me a little more track width.

Looks like you did a half-ass job clapping the rovers too. Might be able to finish the job and get some more clearance.
