I bought a pair of these shafts at my LHS for cheep, and I was wondering if there really any better then my stock dogbone axle shafts?

Those are the cvd's, correct? I've seen mixed results with them, just like the axial cvd's. Some people's last forever, but some don't last a whole pack. It depends on the batch. My buddy has some and theyve lasted 3 months since he bought them.

what battery and motor are you running? The price is pretty good for those cvds. I run 3s with 35t motor. I will probably pick up a pair if they hold up for you

I think mine spit the pins out the first day of hard driving. Either make new and slightly longer ones, or see if Gunnar is still making them. Otherwise they've been fine.

I only had one pair of those, but I broke both of them on the first and second courses I ran with them. I was running a Holmes Revolver on 3s. I never tried them again.

The problem with the ring-type CVD is that the pins are generally too short. The pins should be made to fit the inside diameter of the ring. For Axial CVD's the pin is about 10.7mm long, but the ID of the ring is 11mm, so I make those pins 10.96 to 11mm. This usually reduces pin spitout, as well as engaging all of the wall of the bell portion of the CVD.

For the 3 Racing, the pins are 9.5 to 9.7mm, but the ring is 10mm ID, so I make those pins 9.96 to 10mm long.

For the setscrew-held type of CVD, I just match the OD of the bell.

I've had some 3R cvd's last pretty good, but most of mine have twisted the stub shaft off of the CVD bell.

I was refering to the two different ways the pin is held in the CVD, Either by a ring covering the ends of the pin-Axial, 3Racing, Super 300, or with a setscrew in one side of the small cylinder in the center of the joint- MIP, older RC4WD, etc.

I run 3Racing cvd's with no problem. I run Gunnar's pins in them - but to be honest I hadn't had one break before that. I'm only running 2S, Novak and a Rooster 55, so I'm not throwing huge amounts of power thru them, but I drive it!

Yes, much better turning angle (although I have a little less, but not much less than Duuuuuuuude's awesome display)!

Duuuuuuuude, where are you mounting the battery? I still have mine on a front battery/servo tray and a 1000mAh will foul the tyre (an 850mAh doesn't - but the 1000mAh seem to be much easier to acquire). I'm not using BTA either.

There's some caster in those knuckles, they look like they're turning sharper than they are.

I don't use batteries. Mine runs on unicorn farts and belly button lint.

Now that you mention it, yes they did. I had to shim them so they were centered on the kingpin in the knuckles.

How exactly do I go about doing that?
Thanks!
