Took it out today to do some crawling and 5 minutes in....no steering!

Looks like the rx gave up on me, good news is I have a 4pl coming for the XR10 so I just ordered another Futaba R2104GF for the gatekeeper!

Anyways, here's a pic right before she blowed up!

Nice rig man, I had the same thing happen to the trans on mine. I put in the RR one piece gear/output shafts and she's still goin' strong.

Added some JeepinDoug cups to my XR10 shocks, don't know how I lived without 'em!

Got it all tightened up and ready for the next comp (if it don't rain us out).

Put some Boss Claws on, and I LOVE 'em

I like driving the sportsman rig more than any of my other crawlers, it's just a blast to drive.
The Claws changed up a few things in the way I drive for sure. They don't seem to like wheel speed for traction, slower is better for sure. If you do have to throw the speed to it tho, it doesn't seem to "bounce" as bad as with the Rovers.
I trimmed some pins in the front tires, but left them alone in the rear. A little smoother and less traction might help in climbs and turning out back.

Can I get a favor? I'm running an XCiter body on my GC-3a and it doesn't fit well in back. My rear upper shock mounts, spaced out, are nearly 4" wide overall, and the body is only 3.25" in that location. (The rear "windows" under the bed rollbar brace).

Can you tell me what the body width of the Stage Killah is in that area? I found the Axial XC-1 fits okay, but that's a heavy body. I assume a trimmed out SK is similar to my XCiter at about 1.5 oz?

My trimmed Stage Killah body is right at 1.75ozs if I remember right. I am out of town on buisness right now so I can't measure it, but it clears the rear shocks great the way it is trimmed.

Well...I've managed to have a pretty crappy comp season so far with the Sporty, last place pretty much everytime.
The bitch is I love to drive it, I have a ton of confidence with it, but during a comp I can't keep it on it's wheels.
The biggest failure I have during a comp with this rig is getting in a sidehill bind, if I need to back any at all it rolls over without hesitation, maybe I need to just run overdrive gears in the front and stock in the rear.

I really need to rethink the way I drive this rig....

I figure if I add more "bling" I might be able to drive it better!

I was going to put the whole blue VP case in, but I really like the 3racing front motor case/plate so I just put the back half on.

This is what needs to happen. And practice.

On a good note, there is a BIG change coming to my sportsman rig, story at 11...

Raising the front upper links on the chassis 1 hole and lower the weight in the chassis should help with the truck flipping when reversing on a sidehill. Raising the front uppers on the axle side might also help. Does the rear or front tire lift first?

I pretty much fixed the torque twist with some spring and link adjustments.

I think it is mental now, I have no confidence in this rig. With the help of a buddy, looks like I am going for a complete makeover, new chassis, new placement of the electronics, lightened tranny, just a whole makeover. Wheels and axles, everything else different!

I drive my XR with confidence, I have faith in what I can and can't do with it....but with the sporty I drive it knowing that a last place is coming...
