Chad30W took the old Gatekeeper back to the Enid, OK. skunkworks proving grounds after the last OKRCRC comp, and completely revamped it for me. He brought it back to our next comp and he took first place driving it, me....not so good, but it was my first time seeing it, I did finish with a respectable score I though! Once I get a little drive time with it, look out! Made a chassis change to the BWD Wedge! He also changed the 3Racing motor plate and VP tranny case back to plastic and added a BWD motor plate and a BWD motor saver. Rear link mount All the electronics are now up under the front servo mount. This thing now hooks up on vertical climbs like crazy! We had to add a little weight to the front and rear to keep it planted on sidehills, comes in at around 6lbs now. It has a skid plate height of 2 3/4" at the front of the skid and right at 3" in the rear. It has truly become a pleasure to drive and a real sporty contender now! People like Chad make this sport what it is, thanks buddy! |

this thing worked awesome at the comp. a little more driving time on it and you will be kicking butt! i think the change over to the vp knuckles really helped get the most steering out of those Super 300's. that alone saved you quite a few reverse points.

Glad ya like it Jeff........I really enjoy building trucks and don't mind helping people interested in the hobby at all. I was super impressed with this truck straight out of the box setup no link placement changes and it flat works awesome setup |

Your right about the steering, with the OD/UD gears it acts like it has dig! Quote:
I did change out the 16t pinion for a 14t to get the wheel speed a little slower, not sure if I like it, probably will go back to the 16t. I also did a little playing around with the body and got it a little more level and lower by moving it forward a bit. I ordered some more weights for the front to replace those I took off your wheels, and forgot to give 'em back to you... Can't thank ya enough Chad! It's been a couple of months since I posted anything on my Nats bound 2.2s! Decided to try a bug body, not sure if I like it tho... I need more wheel speed, I am thinking about a HH 35t, and play around with the pinion a bit. I am going to try a new motor first, then will play with the body some more before I decide. |
