what do you plan to use it for? the ax10 can be made plenty fast but won't crawl as well

The AX-10 is absolutely a great GO FAST rig!

Check out Bender's original AX-10 video!
Pretty much stock with 3S lipo...

Axial's RTR AX10 - YouTube

The Original AX-10 had an open front diff, stiffer springs, 20t pinion, and 27t motor.
It was set up more as a rock racer, while the kit was more crawler oriented...!

The standard esc can handle a 19 turn motor these can be had for under $20, also for $10 you can get a set of pinions 15 - 25 tooth (20t will give you good speed over standard). These two mods will greatly increase your speed and cost you less than $30. Problem is once you have all this speed everything on the ax10 is plastic junk and will break, then you have the fun task of replacing all these plastic parts with alloy.

Ax10 is a very versitile truck (in my opinion) I love mine, I have different set ups for example when I wanna bash around and have fun with my son I run a 20t motor and 21 tooth pinoin. But when I want to do some serious crawling ill run a 55t with 14 tooth. So it can be very fast or as slow as u can make it. Great truck to buy

Best ESC to get is the Traxxas XL5 it's water proof 12t 550 titan motor or 15t 540 motor , Li-Po / Ni-Mh compatible . Has 3 running modes Trainer mode for crawling, Bash/race mode for the speed...

That's a great idea, I'm running a Mamba max esc right now and it seems to do the trick

how does limeting the power thats delivered to the motor make it a better crawler? slowing it down by "Starving" the motor for voltage wont make it crawl any better then pulling the throttle less...

3s lipo and 35t handwound - great for crawling with wheel speed when you want it

well they are ''slow'' i guess you can say but most are faster then you can walk any way so its not like your going to be waiting for it if you drove as you walked. And theres always the summit trans, i have that in my scx10 not sure if any one tried to fit it in a ax10 yet.

The thread tital is ... is it worth trying to make an ax10 faster?
Not how to make it crawl beter,
Some people wanna go down the road of a RockRacer , then others go full blown FOFF which is all about speed not crawling....

They don't handle as well as a Wraith but they are fun to drive fast. I have one with a 17t motor and 3s lipo with 5.5 inch tall TSL swampers. It is to high to corner very good but goes like hell up hills.
