Here's a pic that shows how I wire mine. Sorry for the quality. (apparently apple bought leftover cell phone cameras from 2002 for the Ipad)

LOL I'll crawl back to the ranks of "newer guy" now! Glad I hadn't run a battery through the truck wired like this yet! I have found it for sure then!

Thanks for the pic Shelby, its wired correctly on my comp truck and the mini, I was just rushing and not thinking here . . .

Yeah the Chassis the is old school part. . . thats about it.

No problem!

Funny story:

At crawlapalooza 2009, I ran half my courses before my servo started cutting out. I looked closer and saw a loose solder connection. chad30w being the boy scout and gentleman that he is let me borrow his soldering equipment. When I looked closer before repairing the solder joint I realized my bec had been wired backwards the whole time. I turned it around and soldered it back up, and finished the rest of the day.

Some Updates:

Highlanders locker

Beef Toobs

Drilled, tapped and installed. Front vs. Rear

The entire reason to do this mod, Steering:

After going swimming last week, my comp truck is out of commission until I hear back from Castle. So while I wait on the postage man to bring the new black chubs, knuckles and mounts, I robbed the truck to finish this axle. The new universals will go on my comp truck and this will get blacked out. . . oh, except for those beauty rings! You can also expect much more caster.

Weights:

More reasonable:

Looking like this truck is going to be heavier than my comp truck.

Looking good TC! Im getting ready to do the xr mod on my sporty also. Looks to be a easy install. Sorry to hear about your comp truck. You going to have it ready for our comp next weekend?

I'm thinking we won't be coming next weekend. I don't even have a truck that I could run with this one in pieces and my comp truck out of commission.

Axles done. I'm not sure if I'll be able to run the steering reverse like this or not with the shock mount locations. It may get turned back to the front.

Anyways, VP upper link mounts, black c-hubs, and knuckles all installed. I've never really liked the AX10 front link mounts so I thought I'd try this. I've now got some reading I need to do on vertical separation of links. I hope this won't be too much. I'll be adding a few higher holes on the Gatekeeper chassis also.

I do like me some Castor!

Still waiting on my links. . .

Good looking pair of axles.

Thanks for looking.

Yes, that is a very good looking pair of axles.

What about a up and over tie rod? The VP razors could get your shocks up out of the way.

How did the locker install go? Any shimming or tight mess issues?
mine was great at first but now it slightly loosens after every comp, and always drivers side as well.

Thanks. I was telling someone I was building a Gatekeeper chassis and the group all agreed it was "old school." Not my words.

I ended up installing the locker on the rear. Its actually impossible to run long beef toobs and this locker. I only discovered that after I tried to install the chubs over the universals. . . I'll let you know if it looses, I did cover it in lock tight so fingers crossed!

I finally got my links in, so hopefully tonight or tomorrow I'll get to bending. It would appear that my links are a bit long. . . so I might have some extra, non intentional clearance. . . lol Hopefully it won't look too goofy.

The rears dont seem to have this issue, only in the front so you should be good.

You can drill a hole on the top of the pumpkin to access the tightening screws for the locker. Like this

Yes it is. I run one also. It has been a good chassis for me. I nearly beat Austin at a sportsman comp with it. Of course his truck did break and he didn't run finals but still....
