The steel locker is bad ass, I have had one for awhile now and no complaints.

The RC4WD set up, the ring gear wears pretty fast, but have not stripped it yet, but the teeth are real sharp. And the locker they use on it will not interchange with Axial stuff, it has a different bolt pattern.

IMO, the RCP crawlers locker is better since it adds weight. But it'll do the same job.

Don't mean to sound like an ingrate, but this doesn't really help me figure out if the Hot Racing locker is any good.
Main reason the RC4WD unit was included wasn't so much for the gears, but wanted to know if the locker was good enough to warrant not being able to use the Axial gears.

Primary reason the XHD and Felsenfest weren't included was because I believe both are only available via PayPal, which I don't have (and refuse to get again). The two above are at TCS, where I already have an account, and I know they accept CC. Failed to include those parameters in my original post, sorry. Thanks for chiming in, though.

Admittedly, don't know much about this one. I'll go see if I can dig up some info/feedback, thanks.

If you are looking at changing the gears, definitely get the axial overdrive for the front and underdrive for the rear. They are very high quality with a heli cut they are a lot stronger. This will also help with the climbing and turning. I don't know a lot about axial stuff, but I would think the hd lockers in the stock plastic diff cases would be plenty strong.

Part #'s
ax30401 overdrive gears
ax30402 underdrive gears
ax30500 hd lockers

Yep, got an order parked with a "notify me when available" reminder set. Soon as that gearset comes back in stock, I'm fairly certain I'll be going the way Kasper's is set up.

RCP locker:

RCP*Crawlers*Stainless...

I've got 4 in a couple rigs, then the orignal "bonusline" lockers that came up with the idea in 1 other rig.
