I guess I have offered some confusion. Sorry. I'm really looking to see if there is a way to widen my stance without running the junfac wideners. To extend the axles is a great job Chris. This truck is my sporty and my sons. I actually already have my own beef tubes in right now, so to make a change from that is a horizontal move, unless I can widen my stance. Keeping in line with the theme of widening my stance without having to rebuild my setup a though occured to me. What about taking the CVD kit for an exo and cutting down the drive shafts etc. That might work. Last edited by RickM; 05-30-2012 at 07:58 AM. |

That may work, but there is a bit of math involved with the pivot point on a CVD or universal lining up with the pivot point in the knuckles. If they are off, everything gets screwed up. At that point you are already into axle shafts. Whats the extra few bucks for knuckles and chubs mean at that point?

Dont forget another $60 for the knuckle weights. Fortunately I have a buddy with an exo and some CVD's on the way. I will do some measurements and get back to you all. I promise I am not trying to be difficult on this as these tubes may truly may help me accomplish a goal of mine, In order to stick with a knuckle weight setup, I think I am looking at roughly $100 to $125 to upgrade. If i can make the exo cvd's work I am now back at just covering the cost of the tubes and some exo cvd's. If this works this would give a lot of us AX10 guys options that are now getting back into our old shafty's after going different directions. |

You might get lucky, but those CVD's are meant for an independently sprung car. So they will not have the bearing stops on the inner portion of the shaft like a solid axle shaft will. Let us know on what you find out. I was looking at a set of em at my LHS a while back before you brought this up. They didn't look to me like they would work. But who knows, maybe I am wrong. There are many factors that would make these work, that need to be measured. Like the distance between the bearings at the knuckle, where the pin hole is located, and where the center pivot point on the CVD is located. These all need to be proper for proper rotation. |
