| Delrin Tube *NOW TAKING ORDERS*
So I came up with this idea a while back to adapt full length XR universals into AX10 axles. Made a set for some axles that had the splines melted into them, and ended up selling the chubs on a truck that I sold. See the below link for the splined set. Well, that truck shifted directions, and I am selling the axles to a buddy. I needed to complete the tubes so he could finish the axles. This is what I came up with. They aren't too hard to make. A little time consuming on a manual lathe. But pretty straight forward. I am still thinking of buying a set of chubs to use for molding the splines, and making a jig. But this is much easier to make at the moment. How many of you good folks would want something like this? They're made to cut the end off where the stock chub slides on, and then they go in to the edge as you can see in the pic. You then can put XR knuckles, chubs, and stock length shafts on the front giving you more steering, wider track width, and stronger inner axles. EDIT There have been alot of people PM'ing me to get in on the first batch. I will close the doors on this batch this evening(3-23-2012) sometime. | Once again, information that would've been a little more helpful to me YESTERDAY!
Had this been available as little as a week ago, I'da probably jumped all over these things. But my XL Beef Tubes just got here yesterday. I'd really like to see this idea come to fruition, just in case I get a Honcho for a trail truck and need a rustproof solution. Keep us posted if you decide to continue with this project. |

I like the one peice design, clean. Looks like a great lightweight alternative, just gotta be careful not to crank down the chub screws and strip the holes. Hope they sell well! |

Here's a couple more pics I took. I might try to get down the process and make a small run of em. Been pondering it, and am thinking of a pair for $25. |

That was a direction that I was thinking of heading last month. I have been trying to find a machine shop that would machine the splines for me. I would buy a couple sets. |

So I think I will do a small run of these to test the waters. PM me if you're actually interested. Might do a pre-sale. I will probably have 2 versions. Non-splined: $25 a pair Splined:$35 a pair Going to order some supplies and do some measuring now. Stay tuned folks. |

| Re: Delrin Tube Interest?!!?!?!? I would also like to note that these will not "LOOK" like a machine shop did them. I am not a machine shop. I do have pretty good size manual metal lathe, but am not a pro. Every piece that I send out will be test fitted before shipping to ensure complete functionality. I will be doing extensive quality control. But note these are hand made. They should look a bit better than the pics shown however. The splined versions will definitely look like plastic that has seen heat at the splines. |

I'll take 2 pair of the unsplined version I see soooo many possibilities with these tubes. - Good alernative to standard beef tubes, especially if you already run knuckle weights. These would allow you to take the weight out of the axle housing and put them father outat the corners which utilizes the weight more effectively. - Lightweight wide rear axle option (WK shafts) for guys who already have long beef tubes up front. Non using steel tubes in the rear axle will minimize F/R bais change. - Wide axle setups for FOFF's without fattenening them up. Thought i'd make mention since Chris hasn't made note of it yet. With the unsplined version, you will either need to drill the XR chub to make it bolt up like an AX chub (countersunk screws will prevent loss of steering angle), or run additional screws (in the very corners of the XR clock slots) to prevent the chub from roating on the tube. Use of the splined version will prevent this from happening |
