Default NorZepol's Betty Build (pic heavy)

Well I put together an Axial AX10 for myself as a type of "collector's item/time capsule". I used a mix of AX10, SCX10 and Wraith parts and went with a old hot rod style. With the help of some guys in the for sale/wanted section, RPP and TCS I found everything I needed. The truck is ALL Axial minus a few flared locknuts, battery and the RX/TX (Spektrum). Still need to install the ESC and RX. Just waiting on some new Lipos

Here is what I started with.

Wheels and tires. Soft Ripsaws, painted Rocksters and rings.

All put together.

On to the rear axle. Before I started made sure the front and rear were greased up.

First thing installed on the rear was the Axial Bender Custom's 4 link mount.

Next go the upper links, Axial 70mm.

Next I partially assemble the Axial rear straight axles and lockouts. These two shims were used to remove some of the side to side slop.

Size: 15.0 KB

This is where I installed said shims

Size: 15.7 KB

Slid the straights into the lockout and installed the hex pin

Name: Betty 9.jpg
Views: 613
Size: 20.4 KB

Used the hex and set screw to hold it all together

Straight axles and lockouts installed on the rear axle housing

Next will be these wraith shocks
(aluminum Axial Comp Shocks on the way)
and the lower links that came with the BC Axial SWX chassis

Size: 24.6 KB

This is how I set those up in the lower link mounts

Parts used to hold it all together. I use the cone washers from Axial, the dont dig into the link mount as bad as a socket head screw.

Here is a view of the new output (pinion) w/ the hole for a pin instead of a set screw, like on the Wraith.

Perfect, because I am using Wraith driveshafts. On goes the female end of the drive shaft.

Size: 27.2 KB

Here is the pin Im using to attach the driveshafts

Rear end is good to go

Now on to the front axle. Here are the axial knucks and chubs. Knucks came with the Axial BTA kit coming up next.

Size: 21.1 KB

First goes the chub and bearing

Size: 17.9 KB

Axial universals ready to go in.

Size: 22.2 KB

Universals slid into place. I left out the screws that hold on the chub until the steering is installed, just in case adjusments need to be made.

Last goes the Axial knuckles, top hats and the hex w/ set screw to hold it all together

Next to go in are the Axial AS-2 Servo W/ an Axial aluminum steering arm.(if it goes out I'll try the new AS-3). If you get one of the steering arms and have a stock servo, be sure to get the Futaba version. Also shown are the tie rod / drag link installed.

Just waiting on a couple of lipos and I need a new antenna for my spektrum RX, then I can install the ESC and see how she works. I know the tires are gonna rub but I did not want to mount the body to high.
