Default AX-10 dig vs. 4 wheel steering

hey there y'all. got my ax10 back working good again. its a ready to crawl but with tsl swampers and aluminum links. possibly buying a 3-channel or 4-channel radio. my thoughts are dig or 4 wheel steering. can't decide between em'. or should i do both?

If you are going to comp you can't have 4ws so that should make your choice easier.

We will be competing but editing the rules. Were just doing it with a few buddies on the backyard course. One guy has already done it.

I've never used 4-wheel steer, so I can only go by the advice of the mighty Sage himself....Grizzly4X4. He says 4-wheel steer is more of an advantage than dig.

And by the way, Swampers are pretty good tires, even on a comp truck

Those swampers look great on that rig. Is it yours ? And that's prolly what I'm gonna go with. 4 wheel steer. Either way in the comps we have it's a penalty cause my dad leaves his trucks bone stock. He says its unfair. Hahaha.

the vp dig is a super easy set up. so is the rear steer but you have to have a 4ws capable radio. and dig is also cheaper.

Since you are playing with the idea of doing both, I'd do the dig first. Then start collecting parts for 4WS. Just keep in mind if you decide to do both, you'll need a 4 channel radio to use them both at the same time.

Have any of y'all had any touble with dig ? Like it breakin or other parts breakin? And i'm prolly goin with 4 wheel steer. IF and i mean IF i buy a 4-channel remote i would do 4ws first. then dig. But what 4-channel remote do you guys recommend? I was thinkin the traxxas TQ-4. It seems like the cheapest one to go with....

Do both.

My shafty super had both 4ws and dig. Both have their advantages. Dig does offer tighter turning, but 4ws can help point/correct the line you are on/attempting. Plus crab walking is cool for a bit. Dig can help when going upwards, etc.

Just be sure to have a strong rear servo. In fact, I almost think it needs to be stronger than the front, as it will have to struggle to maintain center when not steering, and if you have a heavy truck, the problem is exponentially greater when entering a steep vertical at an angle.

You will also need a 4ch for this setup.

- steering
- throttle
- dig
- rear steer

Futaba 4pl user friendly and plenty of videos on how to setup. Not the cheapest.

Yeah. Gotta have the cheapest one. I'm not being cheap but I'm only 13 and dont have steady income. Just buy stuff outta dad's wallet when he'll let me. Haha.

Ok. I'll check it. But I was thinking the traxxas TQ-4. It's 4-channel and about 100$ and it comes with the receiver..

do your self a favor, and ur dad.

save up for the futaba 4PL, its not super cheap but still cheap.

I did think like you, start up with some cheaper radio.
did buy futaba 3PL for 104bucks so i can afford a 4ws system.
bummer, 3 weeks later sold and did buy 4PL.
4pl is what you need for all 4ws and dig systems
Just love that radio, its so worth it.

and i will pick 4ws over dig any day!
independant reersteer is a great way to drive.

Yeah I know how that works. You buy cheap stuff that's what you get.... I'll prolly just use the spectrum DX3E I have and do just 4 wheel steer.

Go the dx5e for a reasonably cheap option to run rear steer. A quick and simple alu plate fabbed up to sit around one of the sticks will limit it's movement for steering only without needing to go to any fancy electrical troubles.
