Default Long or Short Steering Rod from Arm

Ok I have searched and now heard ackerman and other stuff like that... wow reading into this.. there is SOOOO MUCH>....

ok starting slow...
the Scorpion RTR....
made my own links.. all thread and revo ends and brake lines.....

did the 4 link front and back....
got tie rod too...
but went to do steering..

i bought the carbon fiber steering servo plate... but didnt realize it didnt do a battery too... so traced the old bracket and drilled holes..
got it mounted up..

all out of all thread though.. took 3' to do all I did....
I was going to go from steering saver (servo on drivers side) to passenger side arm.... but realized I had a smaaaaaaal all thread link and did a drivers side steering...

steering angle is not great....
so from what you see.. could I do anything to get better steering?
I am not too worried... all stock parts... i need lipo batteries and charger before i go cv and replace knuckles and the sort...

so look bad? get rid of steering saver and get a longer arm make it better at steering?????

i got to pickup some more brake line now...

straight up - offset so i could use the far down hole vs center to get a bit more throw...

steer left - doesnt do well left.. wondering if short rod

steer right - seems better...

p.s. it is on my list to cleanup my desk... for once i have a reason to use it... hah.... now just got to clean the entire garage....

Go with a long rod to the other side and ditch the servo saver. I wouldn't worry about getting more throw, your knuckles and drive cups are going to be your next limitations...

Also...how much toe do you have in those front wheels? Looks like quite a bit.

well ill pickup all thread and brake line... and do the other side.. plus i will ditch the saver... that was a quick saver to get it moving when i traded my tmaxx for it.. that was all it needed to move...

im gonna get the electronics tied up and in soon... water proof box... on rear axle...

Why not put the electronics on the plate thats on the front axle? Keep most of the weight forward. And switch over to deans plugs on that battery.

Did you make a longer link and run it over to your right knuckle?
Did that clear things up like you wanted?

Does your radio have (and do you know how to set), EPAs or a Dual Rate knob?

nahh havent made it yet... kids keepin me busy..

last night put my electronics in the radio shack box.. 4x2x1... need to extend my steering servo line.. then hot glue or epoxy the holes to make it finally waterproof..

tonight im busy but will get to do a few things to it.. so maybe tonight make the link to the right knuckle...

more to come

didnt see this till i finished my reply.. so adding it now..

not sure what that is.. i have the stock radio.. piece of crap where the battery cover keeps flying off!!!!!
it does have 2 slide switches.. think for reversing directions one for steer and one for throttle

eyup i have this one...

ok so question for you on this... ditch the servo saver.. going to..

last night i finally put the long rod on.. and it is better..
without moving.. i turn right and left.. not enough oomph to fully turn the tires... due to stock servo.. but still.. i see A LOT OF PLAY in the revo end to the saver....

once i get a regular servo arm... will that get rid of that play? im not thinking it will.. it is the joint inside the revo end that seems to have play.. i can go 1/8th" or so each way before you see the tires actually start to move..

kinda like move servo left slowly.. and will take a small bit due to the play...

Hard for us to tell without seeing it, but I seriously doubt a new arm will fix it. Did you use the Traxxas balls in the Traxxas rod end? Did you crack your rod end attempting to get it on the ball? Or are you trying to run a Traxxas rod end with an Axial ball? Or is the ball nice and tight, but has a large hole gettin' sloppy around a thin screw?

thank you.. you made me go look..

my problem is I am a rusher...
I have 2 kids in 2 sports twice a year plus I work 60 miles away.. so when i get a moment.. that is it..

so when i put the new front long arm on... I put it all together not realizing something...

im gonig to replace the arm eventually anyway.. seems no one around me carries axial stuff... i know i dont need an axial arm. but when i go into these places they are like.. umm we dont have your arm.. i even told 3 stores.. do you have a straight arm with a 25 spline count.. they all said.. nope.. we only carry traxxas and blah.. so me being a noob i dont know what im looking for..

so turns out i used the traxxas servo saver... with a normal screw from home depot... it was a 4mm screw with nut... (4 in the pouch).. but i saw i had a nut with nylon.. and i didnt want this to walk out so i used it.. turns out the threading that i thought was right.. was right for the nylon.... so the nylon wore out and the threads werent into the threads...

so this long story short.. i used the original nut on the hd 4mm screw.. and red loctite...
now all good!!!!!!!

lesson learned.. SLOW DOWN... I have to learn to do that.. usually I dont...
