The wide non splined, with an XR lockout, and 2 short side XR inner rear shafts are the hot ticket. You can also use a stock set, and just cut down the longer side to fit.

Just try to elaborate on this one, if you are using Vp locker, it is better to use 2 long side XR shaft, shave the flange and make a longer flats, this way you can have positive engagement of the set screw. if you use 2 short side, the flat is only half engaged by the set screw.

im in need of a set of narrowed wraith axles and thought about using these.

anyone know if the splines on these fit wraith C's?

and is the tube OD the right size to fit inside wraith cases? (length not an issue)

You could make it work, but the wraith tubes are really thick inside already. So you would have to lathe down the beef tubes or drill out the housings.

I would just shorten the long tube in the middle, use a piece of carbon tube or brass tube as an insert. Glue it together with some CA, and use a couple set screws for insurance.

Took possession of 2 sets of ax/xr axles from Chris today. These sets are sick. There is a thread in general crawlers if you care to have a look at the 2 very different directions I went with these. Thanks again Chris!

If I were to redo my sporty, I'd probably just keep the rear axle stock width. Both lighter, and SCX rear shafts are plentiful. Just use hubs or offset wheels to even you up.

My suggestion would be to go with 2 long side.. But by the time you buy 2 sets of axles, mod them, and mess with them. The best bet is CreeperBob ti rear axle shafts.. On sale right now for 65$ a set! Bolt in and go option!

The Premium is the new norm. There is nothing less then this version.

Another small update. Here is a copy and paste from my Facebook page:

This is something that I have been working towards for a while now. A better splining tool. With any luck, this will open the door to Aluminum and Brass splined tubes as well. The "Test" tool works great for Delrin, but I will need to revise it a bit for metals. In the below picture, you can see the difference in quality, The one on the right is an older version. It worked well, but they werent as nice, and the chubs tended to fit a little tight. The latest version on the left is much nicer looking, and a set of factory Axial aluminum chubs fit perfect.

You can also see I took a sacrificial Berg tube, and splined it. This is a service I am hoping to offer in the near future for all those Berg builders on a budget
