The look is good. Just find another of the same body and do it again better. :-)

Yup, usually about version 3 I'll get it right and be satisfied with the results. Version 1 and 2 I consider test versions to refine the idea.

Looks good, I'm still trying to figure out what body to use on my scaler and that hpi bronco body is a string contender.

I hear ya.

One thing about the HPI Bronco body - It's big. I would kind of like a shorter body, so I could keep the same wheelbase and have the tires stick out past the body, front and rear.

Do a pickup cab and build a tube frame out back. Get that truggy look going on.

Complete tube frame with the bronco panels over it.

I like both of those ideas. I'd love to do an aluminum tube frame, if that aluma-weld stuff was easier to work with.

I had one other idea I wanted to mention on here -- They make a Bronco body for the Wraith. I think the front and rear are narrowed, and it may be shorter than this HPI body -- all of these I would consider to be good things. I know it doesn't have a top because that's were the Wraith cage sticks up through; I wonder if that would make it fairly easy to do an interior..... Any thoughts on this? Thanks

I have a friend who bought a wraith cage for cheap and stuck his SCX10 tranny and axles under and made a scaler that way. The wraith cage is the frame and everything on that rig so you attach the panels to the cage word. Not like your normal bodies on scx10's. More just panels that attach if that makes sense.

You could just do the body panels and a roll cage in the seating area. Then make your own panel for the roof. This would lend to a nice interior because it would be right out in the open. Or you could just take the easy way out and buy a wraith cage, but I am not a huge fan. If you remember my dad has one and I just think that the cage is too big and bulky. I am pretty sure that it is heavier than my brakeline cage too. I really like the challenge of building my own stuff. It is much more rewarding when it actually works out. You should ditch the alumaweld, buy some uncoated brakeline, and go to town. Build yourself a nice tuber. Have you checked out any of the southern buggy builds? They are pretty sweet.

Last Thursday I went to Ryan's house and drove on his rock pile. Once off the workbench and out on the rocks, the imperfections in the body didn't seem like such a big deal. I think I'll leave it for now and focus on other things.

One thing I want to improve on the truck is the approach angle. As it is, the bumper itself (not the stinger) sticks out about 1/4" past the front of the front tires. I'd like the tires so be in front of the bumper, so the bumper doesn't hinder me climbing up steep or verticle obsticles.

I started working on this last night, and while I was at it, started setting up the front end for a CMS. So far I have moved the front bumper back one screw hole (about 1/8"), made longer front bent links (about 1/4" - 3/8" longer), and made the single upper control arm. I may trim the links back slightly, not sure yet. And I still need to put tubing over the all-thread, but here's what I've got so far:

Today I put the inner beadlock rings on the outside of the wheels. Well, I got the fronts done today but not the rears yet. I also added more weight. I thought the wheels look more realistic this way, more like a 1:1 beadlock wheel. I didn't want to ditch the Axial-lime-green color completely, as it harkens back to the truck's roots as an AX10. I have a spare set of AX10 wheels that someone painted black, so I used the inner rings off of those for the inner rings of these front wheels. I don't think using outer rings as inner rings would work on the front; I don't think there would be enough room for the steering knuckle.

Are his outer rings as big as ax10 outer rings?

I like the smaller ring on the outside and I have also never disliked your green rings. I though that they always looked good on your truck. I am sad that you had to stretch the front end out so much though. I am not a fan of the fact that the wheel wells no longer line up. However, if anyone understands function over fashion it is definitely me. Maybe you could trim the body so that the wheel wells look a little more realistic.

Thanks Adam. It actually looks better in real life than in the photo. I agree, I don't want it to look unnatural. It'll get worked out

Also stretching is common in the full size world for this class. I like it. Its not over the top
