| How to make an ax10 turn!
Hey folks, I am sure a lot of you know this but I figured I would run this by so for those who do not know, can make the ax10 turn as well as it possibly can. With help from randomhero a smart guy and $50. total, this is all I did and it works just fine. Grind the screw boss holes off flush of the ends of your axle housing as well as the channel groove protrusion, make the ends smooth but don't take off any extra. Purchase, beg, or borrow: one set XR or wraith - C's and knuckles and one set XR or wraith front universals "axles". Slip on the "C" clock it just past the seam "elongated hole center just past seam" for good screw bite. Drill 1/16 holes at 1 and 7 Oclock and a third hole at 4 Oclock on the back side. The C's are inter changable the knuckles are not. "pretty sure". You also have to grind off th double tie rod arms, you can leave a little of the top ones as stops if you want. Also sure that the cut length of the new axles are the same as a straight rear axle, cut axles to length. Now grind a tiny bit at a time to fit locker, it is about 12 thou. per side, go easy!!!!!!!!! Put it together and be really happy! I didn't need beeftubes or shims it fits and works too good. It actually will steer too far if you let it! Any way, get the gear and steer! If I have anything wrong, LET ME KNOW! |

Oh, I almost forgot. The wraith- XR c-knuckles are just a little wider! But it ends up giving you the extra clearance for your shock and you need it because it turns so much further than before! It really turns out great in the end! I like it when things go this well. |

Aren't the wraith front axles two diff sizes.. one short an one long... I would stick with just the xr universals.. unless ur cutting and grinding to fit.. normally, instructions comes with pics.. then, we can't screw up by reading... |

I believe you would just want to use the XR uni's like stated above, because i believe the short side Wraith would be too short to engage. On another note.....I got this much steering for $50 using Axial CVD's and high steer knuckles. |

Do they rotate without wobble? If so, did you have to do anything to them to get them smooth? | |

Can we please see some pics of the mods that need to be done to the housing? I have seen the C's and knuckles done before but only with the tubes upgraded. This mod would be great for me. Thanks for keeping the budget in mind!

Can't do any pics right now as I don't have my rig with the XR steering at the moment. A buddy (Chad30w) forced me to loan it to him for nats, and he got 6th. Anywhoo, this mod is pretty easy. There's a couple of round nubs for screw holes that need ground off of the AX housing. Then there are rectangular "keys" that the stock AX c's locate on the top and bottom of the AX housing, those need to be narrowed to fit the splines in the inside of the XR c's. 5 minutes with a dremel, and the XR c's will slide right on. If you have the parts in front of you you'll see exactly what I mean. Then drill a couple of holes somewhere in the c to attach it to the AX housing. Done. Of course you still have to shorten the XR axle shafts and grind flats in the ends. That's pretty easy to. Go slow when grinding the flats, as mentioned above. |

Another also forgot, I take it for granted that people will know. But, "Don't take aything for granted". You will also have to fabricate new tie rod and drag link, You can make an arch or go behind drag link and just up and over pumkin in a straight line. Random hero made me one of stainless that goes behind drag link and it is slick! Or should I say "sick" these days, I am an old man after all! "Manning", thanks for the solid input! |

diggin up an old thread here . i do not want to buy beef tubes or get stupid steering, this is for my scaler. i clocked the axles so the drive shaft angle is right and i want to clock the c's back so i have the correct caster. wondering if i can use wraith c's and knuckles and the stock axle stubs ?
