RcBros Sporty Begins
 

Well after watching a handful of sporty comps I decided I couldn't watch any longer, but there was a catch.... I had to first build the rig entirely using parts I already had :lmao:

After snagging a brand new body I painted awhile back, my wifes SWX roller, spare electronics, old berg wheels, extra set of boss claws and a Savox servo robbed from the scaler I was business :mrgreen:"thumbsup"

But, of course that didn't last long.

I wanted more steering so I robbed the univerals and 8* VP goodies from one of the scalers for a touch more steering.

The only downside to my current setup is lack of caster and linkage binding.

So I picked up a creation Fab Axle housing with wide delrin splined tubes this weekend "thumbsup"

With that setup it makes changing my C clocking till I find what I need extremely easy unlike my current setup. The extra width will keep my tires out of my links and give me some spicy new options for some creative mounting, With some VP Razor shock mounts and a new steering arm and drag link I should have the steering exactly where I want it. Stay tuned!

As it sits the suspension sucks. I robbed some stock wraith shocks which is like polishing a turd. So I've added big bores to the rear, just need to finish the fronts, get my jeepin doug cups on with new springs.

Then its on to new links.

Currently I have the Axial Harden overdrives in the front, and under drives in the rear with all the Robison goodies in the transmission. I would still like to get some better lockers, CF wheels and new knuckle weights. The fun never ends :ror: Electronics stand with an FXR and CC BEC and I think the oldest motor I own from Holmes Hobbies. This was the first set of motors ever purchased for my berg and still going strong "thumbsup"

Thanks guys, you'll have to keep an Eye on Chris the Battery Mans thread here in the ax-10 section for information regarding the chassis.

Started reworking the front axle tonight. Got the CreationFab front axle together and made a new upper plate to accommodate the servo and battery. Nothing special, just some quick work on the bandsaw and some dremel action. I'll probably add some "speed" holes to lighten it up eventually.

I have a good feeling I'll be switching to some the Axial Aluminum XR10 knuckles to accommodate the steering setup I want to achieve. I'll know for sure once I get the chassis and links bolted up.

Got the sporty into a roller this afternoon. I need to get some better links just can't decide on what material I want to go with on this route. Also need to pick up some wheels, but my budget is shot for this month. Maybe pick up some uber cheap plastic wheels in the bargain bin at the LHS?

I'm really digging the front bias, now to decide where the electronics should go. I'll alittle worried about the vulnerably of them on the front plate.

Looks good! My only question is will having the servo sticking out in front cause problems?

I think the servo looks more severe then it really is, due to the picture angles. If it does cause problems I have some budging room. We shall c. The Savox servos are longer, so switching to a normal 7995 hitec is still and option and may solve any issues that arise. Don't know till I try I guess lol

What about making another axle plate like the front for the rear and mounting your electronics underneath?
Obviously you would probably want to make it out of something lighter like carbon fiber, but you could get away with a pretty thin material and not add much weight to the rear.

I've considered the back axle. I do not however have any carbon fiber. ;(

My only issue is more of tidiness issue, I'm not a big fan of running the battery leads from one side to the other.

I could mount them in the chassis, but I want to keep the cg out of the frame area.
