Looks like an 86jeep steering style set up, maybe some really trick and light weight CF servo mount is in the works.

As you see the pumpkin in more to the right?

What your plan?
Cut and re-flat the long ar axle..takes about 5 minutes

So what's your reason for narrowing the axle this way? I have one I have been working on that shortens up just the long side as well. I am only doing it to keep the drive line from being such a pain in the ass. Although I am still going to try and use a full width because I want there to be as little scrub as possible. But the drive line angles with such a wide axle make it hard to have a narrow chassis and the links not collide...

I like that he can use the stock AR60 uni on the one side.

I wonder how wide it would be to use a stock XR10 on the other side?

It would be great to no have to cut the uni.

It would have to be nearly as short as the other side. Probably putting it narrower than an XR10. The short side of the wraith is only a little shorter than an XR10 uni. So the diff would only be offset by around a half inch

what does full width have to do with the scrub?

i narrowed it in this fashion because the full width is simply to wide in my opinion. you could use full face wheels with a narrow hub but then you would be right back into the links when steering.

this way i narrow the spread at the axle for the axle side lowers (which has more to do with the geometry i am trying to attain) as well as gives me the full steering capability (60*+) that i am looking for without touching the links while using a 350 hub.

i also get the benefit of the offset pumpkin that will give me more under axle clearance at any given position than flat.

hope that answered your question.

it would be narrow and almost centered at that point.

You are gonna be soooo screwed if there is ever a course setup on flat ground....

The width would force you to run a narrower offset wheel, then killing off any scrub.

That's also another thing I want out of less scrub on an RC. Stronger steering. Seems that's been whats helped the supers only use 1 servo

Like anything else it's a trade off, he seems to be willing to have the scrub to achieve everything else he is after.

Ive done a lot of testing with scrub and links colliding. But having some scrub on an RC crawler is beneficial for the reach at times.

I plan on someday setting up my 1:1 with wider axles and narrower offset wheels to keep the tires out of the suspension as much, and keep the steering a little stronger.

your scrub should be dictated by a combination of your weighted tire height and hub/wheel combo....

you could have + or - scrub with wide or narrow axles. so sticking narrow offset wheels on a wide axle doesn't eliminate scrub all together.

also, the scrub is not really what keeps your tires out of your links either, it is room.

you are right about the steering being quite a bit stronger though

that is a welcomed side effect of have proper steering geometry.

there wont be any trade off... i will be able to adjust so i can have perfect steering geometry with any tire a choose.

Interesting. Appears there is more into it than I thought. Perhaps I will have to sit down with my buddy who's an alignment tech, and get some knowledge

Yeah, the power is certainly better. I seem to never have enough on my rigs. Even with the super cool Futaba BLS157HV I still feel there could be more on my 2.2. Perhaps the sporty will be fine with 420 and limited scrub

8.6 volts always does the trick
