I'm really liking this build. What is your track width with your front wheels setup like that?

Very nice and very interesting. Please help me understand - why is the front axle mounted to the chassis, leaving only the rear axle to articulate separate from the chassis?

Thanks

Hi Josh,

i designed this chassis 2009 - in this year it was just a try to drive only with 2 shocks on the rear axle. The idea behind - i thought that so could be more traction on the front axle. It´s a little bit special to drive, but i love this feeling and can handle out these kind of setup very good. The second reason was the torque twist - 2009 that was really a problem...

Hope you understand what i mean, my english is not perfect If not, don´t shy to ask again...

Gerry

Thanks, I believe I understand. So......does it work? How does it crawl compared to a traditional setup?

I asked because I have an AX10 turned class 3 scaler. It does not have a lot of articulation, and I was thinking of modifying the rear axle set up so the rear would flex a lot more.....it would be a little similar to what you did here.

Yeah, it works great, no torque twist and i like it how she crawls But it´s more difficult to find the right setup with 2 shocks and almost when the crawler is so light...

Next step:

Today i got the beef tubes, thank you Dan!

Here they are:

The old CVD´s:

The new Super 300 HD´s for the XR10:

Weight of the axle before:

And after the mod:

The difference is not so much and the axle is now wider and bullet proof - just have to do some little things and change the Knuckles against VP Wraith Knuckles...

The weight i have now more on the front axle, i will soon loose on an other position

Ok, next step... At the moment i wait on my VP Wraith Knuckles - so i have do some parts on the CAD for lowering the CG:

So i can lower the servo a little bit, also the LiPo Between the CFK plates in the middle of the axle i will put the receiver and behind the axle the other electronic...
Hope i have time to mill the pcs in the next days...

Also i think about another option for mounting the rear upper links - not sure if this will work well, but i think it´s a try worth...

This is an impressive AX-10 to say the least.

I have always wondered how the solid front suspension crawlers worked. It's cool to see that they actually work pretty well.

Did you do the whole transmission yourself?

Thank you guys!

The tranny i did myself, but i have to redesign it, the ratio is to less and i don't have some drag brake with it.

Good to know that the front parts will work fine, just some steps to finish, then i can go out to test it and i will do a video from it!

How low can you gear your truck without a spur in the transmission?

I really do like your front servo plate though.

Thank you! I´m not sure about the gearing in the moment, i have wrote it down before i built the tranny, but don´t find it in the moment I think it was about a overall ratio from 14:1 or nearly in that range - and it´s to less... But i have a idea how i can do a new tranny with much more ratio and less weight
