Very nice and interesting build!
Are you going to run the transmission like that, with no side covers?
Isn't there a big risk to get dirt/sand in there that will destroy the gears?

Thank you!
I have to redesign the tranny - will post up info´s soon and at the final version i would do an thin cover, maybe with a sheet thin lexan to protect the gears

Super nice front plate...
Can be lighter if you are using traxxas aluminum ball to raise the plate :P

Ok, time for updates:

today i have built the new tranny - and with the motor i will go the way like all begun, with an outrunner! The outrunner on the pic was this one i drive 2009 on the Swiss Mountain Crawl where i get the 2nd place - also with the RollerCoaster Chassis! The new outrunner should come in in the next 2 weeks, is a little bit faster and should be really smooth - also in the startup. And he is 16g lighter

Pics from the tranny:

I have drilled the gears out and so the whole tranny weights about 55g and have an gear ratio from 30,7:1 when i use an 8 tooth pinion....
The 32p gears sounds a little bit funny, but i don´t want to win a Grammy Awards with it

Have a look on the balance:

And the actually weight:

1326g (2.92lb) - that´s great! There are some more things where i can save weight, but the rig needs also the front upper links and the steering links - so i think this would be the weight i would reach when all is finished!

Gerry

Wow, thank you guys! Glad that you like it!

@Rob - we will se, but i think it should be strong enough for this light rig!

@ScorpionKing - i send you a PM!

Since yesterday the RollerCoaster is driving and it feels awesome! I have built in now the homemade tranny and a holmes hobbies 14t conalt puller and it works fine.
This way i have saved 110g in comparison to the original tranny with a 540 brushed motor!
The only thing is the tranny sounds a little bit loud and for me the cobalt puller could have a little bit more wheelspeed...

The RTR weight is now at 1380g!
