joshsmith512 oldschool to newschool sudu

So i have been wanting to update the 4lb 13 oz ff4 which has served me rather well, quite a few first and seconds. So after alot of looking, i hooked up with tomi and douwe from nordic crawler designs. These guys are the friendliest and most helpful i have dealt with on rcc. So the goal is to get around 4lb flat. Here is the breakdown of parts i will be gleaning from the oldschool ff4.
Front axle- ax10 housings with creation fab wide splined v2 tubes, vp wraith knuckles and chubs, bonusline locker( wow what a pig but oh so tight), xr unis, vp razors, ncd weight holders custom designed to work with dlux weights, mip front center drive custom drill press lathed for weight reduction(9 grams), bc upper link mount, 7990 the beast, ti tie rod and just got finished getting rid of all the black oxide screws for sexy new red aluminum ones.
Chassis is the new sudu one from ncd- what a piece of cf goodness
Trans- hr alum case with hr alum gears, bwd motorplate, wraith outputs, and the 13t crawlmaster speed demon:twisted:
Rear axle- ax10 with fresh red aluminum hardware, vp razors, a i have never seen another one like it no slop alum locker, plastic lockouts, oldschool d mount, and a wildboar rear drive shaft, ti links, ud gears
Aluminum hr red pivot balls throughtout
Was running slash proline shocks, now switching to proline scalers with cap mod for now
Brxl of course, castle bec, 4pl, creationfab receiver bypass , gens ace 450or cbp 450or600
Slw v4 lightened with ci closed cell and soft outers, and ci khaos rovers
A couple of before shots

Looks great! I'm trying to find a good time to come up and comp with you guys... And I'd love to see this there too as I'm planning on building one after I get the mini and 2.2 Pro running "thumbsup" So you going to get any NCD wheels for it ever?

got the roller together links worked out great as the wheelbase is 12.4999999999:ror:. found the front mip is just a hare long so lunchtime project tommorow cut and weld. heres a few pics.
http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/...psfc4a093c.jpg

ride heigth at 3

http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7236b3df.jpg

massive amounts of steering even with the huge khaos's

madatory flex shots

balance point just a whisker in front of the front link

so 4lb 2 oz without esc, battery, rx and body. so it looks like i might be a little over 4lb. but still low 4lbs once tomi ships the ncd cf rims. 4 flat is probably obtainable without the heavy khoas's, but i love the way they have worked and have been the only tire i have run for a while on my sporty. hope to have most of the electronics wired tonight.

Re: joshsmith512 oldschool to newschool sudu

Well was wiring some 16 gauge onto the brxl, finished and wired the rest just to plug in and get flashing red led only doh. Getting the wp brxl in now, no not heavier:cry:. Went to cut the mip female side and just as i cut it realized i had turned it down to far to weld it. So back to the drawing board on the front driveline, do you guys think a wildboar with stiffner in the front center will hold up to a 13t cm on 3s? Or stick with mip. Suggestion welcome.

Re: joshsmith512 oldschool to newschool sudu

If you want to lose some weight, why not use Castle Micro Sidewinder?? I would say at least an oz lighter than WP BRXL, from memory, my MSW plus BEC is only about 30 grams.

Also loose your alloy tranny housing would save a few grams too. That's overkill unless you run brushless for FOFF application.

I like your links, nice bent on the rear upper.

Re: joshsmith512 oldschool to newschool sudu

I use a junfac driveshaft up front. They have all lengths of driveshafts. And not to expensive.

wheels on the way"thumbsup" will shoot some pics when they arrive. i know still heavy for todays standards. like colgout suggested went to micro sidewinder and plastic trans case, only netted 14 grams on the case. did net major on the esc, 49 grams to 14 grams. going to do a little test driving at lunch today.

Thanks man. So got the lunchtime practice in today, man this thing climbs like a champion and has killer breakover. Going to have to work on sidehilling ability but it is acceptable at the moment. Went ahead and added knuckle weight and fxr as the micro was used and not working properly. Rtr weight is 4 lb 7 oz.
