I will also cut off the excess shaft that sticks out past the nut.

It's not a lot of work if you have the right tools, and the right friends.
It has been fun tinkering with every little piece of this, more yet to come.

Shitty pics I know, will post better ones in a bit.

What you really need is a 7075 top shaft and slipper eliminator. And i happen to know a guy who knows a guy who stayed in a holiday inn once who might have one for a guy like you.

Thanks man!

Stock steel idler shaft weighs 3 grams, aluminum drilled idler shaft fluctuates between 0 and 1 gram on the scale.

Nice looking build! I am curious to see how well everyone likes their light weight 2.2S rigs. We have been running 2.2S in our club for 2 years now. I built 2 lighter weight rigs and I haven't been able to get them to work as well as my old 6lb 8oz sporty did. Happy building,I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Thanks! I have been running my current shafty at 4lbs rtr, once tuned it ran as well as it did at a MUCH heavier weight. When properly tuned I prefer light trucks nowadays.

Are you latheing these parts yourself?

I was quite impressed with my shafty at 4lbs.
