Well .... in the waiting room again ... I got my electronics boxed up to be send out for a smash job.

For electronics I will be running all the spares that I have. Also I sort off retired the Ole BJ4 by robbing the servo. I got a new servo in the works, but not sure when I will able to get it ...

Electronics

Tekin FXR
Tekin 35T pro motor
Hitec HS-7954SH
CCbec 10A set at 7.2V
Futaba R2106GF RX

Meanwhile I will get some minor adjustments and the last little things done and then she finally will be ready for some rocks

I send out my electronics today ... so now it is time to do some little tweaking and finishing up some loose ends. My list of things still to do:

1) Articulation is a little bit more as I like so I am going to add additional limiters to the shocks. Current front and rear is 7.5mm, I will be adding 2mm in front and 5mm on the rear shocks. I will also try out a different postition for the rear shocks (one hole to the back).

2) Mount lipo and make additional cut on the body to clear servo and lipo. I will be lowering the body a bit, if possible.

3) Draw up and get a custom E-tray to better fit my electronics setup, if needed. I think it could be a little smaller with my setup then the stock one is. Hopefully I can lower the E-tray a bit as well.

4) Glue the tires.

It is my first time around with CF glue-on wheels, I never glued a big crawler tire before. Let alone glue to CF rims, so a question for all of you: Do you glue the tire the whole way around or multiple spots on CF rims ?

Thanks

I'd go with thin continuous layer... Wouldn't like to have tire to stretch unevenly

Hey Ronald depending how many beadlock screws just a small dab on the bead in one or 2 places evenly between the beadlock screws.

That way if you have to remove the tyre its not a major issue.

Thanks Ben, I am running 5 bar wheels so in my case you would do 5 dabs total ? Did you ever had problems with tires coming loose with the dab-method ?

No. But i have broken a cf wheel and it can be diffucult prying the bead if to much glue is used.

Also be cautious not to over glue. Wipe away straight away as if it dries on the cf it dries white and looks daggy.

5 dabs is fine.

Mutsa my advice if your concerned is do the mininum first and you can always pry the tyre bead away from the bead lock ring if extra glue is required.

Just an estimate but it seems to take about 10mm each side of a beadlock screw or a dab of glue for the bead to get any movment.

As most rigs are light thus the reason for glue on wheels i havent gad enough pressure to pop a bead off. My Sporty still has a conventional bead lock, ive been using glue on with both my pro trucks fine.

Cool thanks Ben The glue I used in the past on tires of onroad cars was very thin and would run the bead. For the dab method the glue has to be thicker and not run too much ... What particular glue you normally use for the tires ?

That stuff you can get at most hobby shops... it's a very strong glue... Proline also has really good glue as well and they come with a nice really pointy tip to them so you don't have a ton of glue coming out...

I did what Ben suggested and I did them in 3 places cause I have 3 piece wheels and I think they are going to hold perfectly fine... It was a pain though cause the glue I was using the top was like really fat...

The glue got in today and I finished up the tires, the first wheel I over glued a bit and needed some clean up work afterwards . Luckily my skills improved rapidly all other 3 are much better … I used the glue OzBruiser linked above and applied 5 dabs to each beadring.

Past few days I cleared my “to do list”, I added the spacers to the shocks and changed the rear chassis mount position one hole back. The body got a final trim on the front fenders, hood and sides. I was able to lower the body bit …

All she needs now is electronics … weights:
