| Re: Haastnooit's AXR10 2.2s NCD SuDuOne I had a pretty good amount of freetime this evening so I sat down and go to work on tearing the whole rig apart for installation of the Gribfab V1 spools and traxxas aluminium revo balls. Just finished buttoning up … A few pics … Rear Axial diff with HD locker and UD gears vs. Grip-lok V1 spool and UD gears Front Axial diff with HD locker and OD gears vs. Grip-lok V1 spool and OD gears Rest of the weigthloss is due to the aluminium balls, I had one package and used up all thirty. Still got four steel ones spacing out the sidebraces on the chassis. Now I sit back and wait for my RX to show up and order some additional VP weightrings to add it back to the knuckles. I am thinking of adding a 1/4” halfring (19 gram/0.67oz) to each side. Current knuckleweight is 38 gram/1.34oz each knuckle. Last edited by Haastnooit; 09-14-2013 at 04:33 PM. |

Good to hear Jan, when will you have your wheels ? I ordered the extra weightrings today, from Germany so I hope they will be here the same time the rest of the needed parts get in |

As Nordic Crawler Design is back in production after summer break, I decided to hit Tomy up for a new set of wheels. Still got some Sedona's laying around I need rims for ... so started fooling around with some older designs and decided to go with this ... V2.1 Queen |

| Re: Haastnooit's AXR10 2.2s NCD SuDuOne My Sudu is RTR again … I received my new receiver yesterday and found some time tonight to get the electronics wired up again. I decased the Futaba R2104GF receiver and stuck the decased FXR on top with some servo tape, the BEC is on it’s side on the side en kept in place by a rubber band (bicycle innertube) around everything and the E-tray. I also added bullet connectors to the motorwires and shortened the servo lead and powerwires. The position of the bodymount on the front of the chassis was limiting the usefull space for the electronics when articulating, so I decided to change that as well. This meant making a second set of holes in the body, resulting in the body sitting a little bit more to the front and lower . All changes, different receiver, added connectors, shortend wires and bodymounts resulted in a unexpected extra weightloss. The weightrings I ordered didn’t come in yet … So temp RTR weight: |

When I took the lower pic yesterday the weight looked familiar, so read back my thread and found it a couple pages back. | |

Well ... back to normal it is. VP weightrings showed up today, I decided to add a full 1/8 ring instead of a half 1/4 ring, leaving me room for more and different hub options. The 2 full 1/8 rings and longer screws to keep them on, added 42 grams to the knuckles, bringing the total knuckleweight to 118 gram (4.16oz). New RTR weight: 1715 gram (3.78 lb) Last edited by Haastnooit; 09-30-2013 at 03:22 PM. Reason: added pic |

Forgot to mention the big gain in forward bias, it turned out more as I thought it would be. Balance point used to be far behind the front lower linkmounts at the skid, now it is on or just a hair behind it ... Real curious to find out the impact of this when running the rig at my usual spot |

| Re: Haastnooit's AXR10 2.2s NCD SuDuOne I got some new parts in yesterday … I decided to change over to the “Shifts adjustable offset hubs” by Lattice Innovations. I hit up BC-Brian for 3 sets (1 set slim Shifts) to do both my rigs and have some spares. Shipping is fast and communication is just perfect, as the seller the Shifts are fantastic . Check it out … On the Sudu they will be replacing the SLW 725 and 850 hubs, my starting setup with the Shifts will be slightly narrower as with the SLW hubs. I got a pic of both side by side, and weight difference between the 2 systems … RTR weight dropped a little to 1706 gram. Trackwidth is narrowed by 5 mm, now outside tire to outside tire measures 270 mm in front and 265 mm in the rear. The hubsize in front came out totally perfect for my current knuckleweights, nice tight clearance with the wheelface . With getting the Shifts I got rid of the 4-40 screws on my rig, I tapped all 2.5mm holes for M3. Now I only got metric hardware left on my ride, I guess it is time to start thinking about getting some fancy colored hardware. Some wheel off shots … Last edited by Haastnooit; 10-10-2013 at 02:51 PM. |
